It’s something that underpins everything we do, and it’s clear that across the association there is a real sense of momentum.

From core gardening categories through to outdoor living, home, leisure and lifestyle, the strength of our sector lies in its ability to adapt, diversify and inspire – and this issue of the GIMA Digest is a powerful showcase of that evolution.

The breadth of products, ideas and innovation on display highlights both the creativity of our members and the opportunities ahead as consumer expectations continue to shift. Garden retail is no longer defined by a single category, but as a dynamic, multifaceted space – one that our members are actively shaping.

I am also delighted to welcome Martin Ward as GIMA’s new Director. He joins at an exciting time for the association, and his experience and fresh perspective will be instrumental as we continue to build on our strong foundations and look to the future.

With that in mind, one of my key focuses this year is ensuring members are getting real value from GIMA. The opportunity is there through events, Buyer Connect and the wider network, but the more you engage, the more you gain. Encouraging greater participation across the membership will be a big priority for me,

Altico Expands Operations as “Make Any Garden Beautiful” Campaign Rolls Out Nationwide Altico’s Make Any Garden Beautiful campaign is now rolling out across garden centres nationwide following its launch at GLEE 2025.

Developed in partnership with Yorkshire TV gardener Katie Rushworth, the campaign helps retailers inspire customers with simple garden makeover ideas while connecting decorative aggregates, planting and accessories within one cohesive in-store story.

Over recent months, Altico’s sales team have been working closely with garden centres to install bespoke point-of-sale displays and timber merchandising features, bringing the concept to life in-store. As the displays begin appearing across the country, customers are now able to see how simple materials can work together to transform outdoor spaces.

Two curated garden collections, Homely Neutrals and Modern Greys, demonstrate how decorative aggregates and planting can be combined to create practical and stylish outdoor environments. QR codes within the displays link directly to expert advice and how-to videos from Rushworth, helping shoppers move from inspiration to action.

Richard Pyrah, Commercial Director at Altico, said: “When shoppers see how aggregates, planting and accessories work together, it helps them visualise a complete garden project – which ultimately benefits both the customer and the retailer.”

Alongside the campaign rollout, Altico continues to invest in the growth of the business, and in December opened a second site in Doncaster to strengthen both Aggregate and, Water Feature business, backend office, logistics and increase operational capacity.
