TOP: Two adult class participants showed off their handy work after Art Wednesday in August 2015 that involved printmaking. MIDDLE: The Ab Hubert Elementary School’s ‘Newcomers Class’ is made up of students who have been in the US for less than a year and who are not fluent in English. These students came to the gallery once a week starting in September 2015 for art lessons that helped build their creativity and increase their vocabulary. BOTTOM: Local Musician, Ashley Case, performed at the 4th annual ‘Dia de Los Muertos Festival’.

GCA improved our online presence in April 2015 by unveiling a new, streamline website that provides the public with up-to-date information about current classes and events. In 2015, GCA offered 194 classes & programs to the community. From 2014 to 2015, GCA increased our art programming by 198%. Along with presenting 10 art exhibitions to the community, GCA also brought in two visiting artists who gave free workshops and an artist lecture. Several new programs were introduced in 2015, including the first annual ‘Sidewalk Chalk Competition’ and a family art making class called ‘Drop-In Art Saturdays’. GCA formed five new partnerships for local schools and non-profit organizations, including Ab Hubert Elementary School, St. Dominic’s Catholic School, Real Men Real Leaders, Downtown Vision and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

TOP: During an adult painting class in April 2015, two sisters painted matching canvases. MIDDLE: One young girl showed off both her creativity and hand-eyecoordination while hula hooping and playing the musical instruments she made at GCA’s art booth at ’Hillside Sessions’ BOTTOM: The ’Newcomers Class’ from Ab Hubert Elementary School started coming to GCA for weekly art lessons starting in September 2015.
