the competition to design a playful pavilion was initiated by oxarch (oxford brookes architecture society) and after the proposals came in the winning entries were combined by dan sweeting, gang of six and students from montana state university.
the pavilion is a response to the london festival of architecture 2012 ‘playful city’ theme. it is a challenge to the olympics that re-imagines spaces for sport. the design was based around the game of ping pong for its inclusive nature, and we suggest the version around the world for the way it reinterprets the dichot omy of competitive sport. the pavilion is intended to be playful and interactive. fun is number one.
