A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT Dear Galveston Bay Foundation Friends and Colleagues,
Galveston Bay continues to face challenges to its long-term health and prosperity. Continued population growth in our region and habitat fragmentation around the Bay puts stress on both water quality and local wildlife populations. However, I look at our Annual Report as an opportunity to see the positive differences we are making together. From returning more than 20 0 tons of recycled oyster shells to the Bay that help filter the water, to engaging nearly 3,0 0 0 students outdoors and in classrooms, real and tangible impacts have been made this year. But it doesn’t stop at this report or this year. We envision a Bay brimming with vitality, connected to people and contributing to the community in ever y possible way. With your help, Galveston Bay Foundation will continue to make great strides in achieving a healthy Galveston Bay. To further carr y out this vision, we are currently undergoing a capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art headquarters and education facility in Kemah. Our future home will ser ve as a place where community visitors of all ages can access the Bay and learn about its value. We are ver y excited to share our progress with you in the coming year and fill a great need in the community.
