On behalf of the Gallo Center for the Arts, we are thrilled to welcome you to the 23/24 season. This season promises to be the best one yet, featuring more than 30 Gallo Center debuts including 2023 Grammy Winner for Best New Artist Samara Joy, Latina superstar Carla Morrison, and the legendary Wynton Marsalis, as well as encore performances from world-renowned artists such as Renée Fleming, Dave Koz, Felipe Esparza, and many more!

As we embark on this new season, we would like to take a moment to thank our outgoing board chair, Alex Mari, M.D. for his dedicated service and leadership. Under his guidance, the Gallo Center has continued to thrive as a cultural hub for the San Joaquin Valley, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

We are also excited to welcome Christina Gomez as our new board chair beginning July 1. Christina brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position, and we are confident that she will lead us into an even brighter future.

At the Gallo Center, we are committed to providing our patrons with unforgettable cultural experiences. We are proud to offer a diverse range of programming, including music, theater, dance, and comedy, among others. Our state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional staff and volunteers ensure that each and every event is executed with the utmost care and attention to detail.

From Donna Summer and Queen to George Michael, Erasure, Madonna, Lady Gaga and much more, these essential songs take us from disco to the present day. The story of the fight for LGBTQ+ equality evokes the struggles, heartache, and liberation of queer lives then and now. With Broadway, Off Broadway and cabaret starts Natalie Joy Johnson, Kevin Smith Kirkwood and Jon-Michael Reese, Pride Anthems is a celebration of where the LGBTQ+ community has come from and how far it has come since Stonewall.

Pride Anthems is produced in partnership with Pride Live and Joe's Pub. A portion of the proceeds for PRIDE ANTHEMS will be donated to Pride Live and the Stonewall National Monument Visitors Center, which opens in June 2024. Presented in conjunction with MoPride’s 10th Anniversary Gala, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in Modesto and beyond through education, outreach, and advocacy.

With one million tickets sold and acclaimed reviews worldwide, here is a musical celebration of the life and music of the legendary French chanteuse Edith Piaf. This production, inspired by the award-winning film La Vie En Rose, narrates the rags-to-riches story of the Parisian singer’s career through her unforgettable songs, complemented by a visual tapestry of previously unreleased images from Parisian locations of the Edith Piaf era.

Charles Yang (violin), Nick Kendall (violin), and Ranaan Meyer (double bass) are bonded by an uncommon blend of instruments and vocals. They embrace the various eras, styles, and traditions of Western music, earning praise from NPR, NBC , and The Wall Street Journal for their charismatic and energetic performances in venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and The Royal Albert Hall.

This Texas-based a cappella group was formed unintentionally after initially singing together for a college graduation recital. Their popularity grew when they began posting videos to social media from the stairwell where they rehearse, amassing nearly 10 million views. Kings Return’s sound is proudly born out of Gospel, Jazz, R&B/Soul, and Classical music. They first appeared at the Gallo Center as the opener for Jay Leno in 2023.

The valley’s only African American theatre company tackles one of the greatest plays of the 20th century. Arthur Miller’s Pulitzer Prize-winner is the two-act tragedy told through a montage of memories, dreams and arguments of the protagonist Willy Loman. Now see this masterwork told from the perspective of a Black family experience. Co-presented with Gallo Center Repertory Company.

Set in Vienna in the late 19th Century and written by the “WaltzKing,” Johann Strauss II, Die Fledermaus (The Bat) is high spirited and charming, romantic and comic, filled with beautiful music and singing. It is based on a French vaudeville comedy and has spoken dialogue along with glorious singing. It is the most famous and beloved of all Viennese Operettas.

Opera Modesto's production features Liisa Dávila as Rosalinda, Alicia Hurtado as her chambermaid, Gabriel Manro as her husband, Emmanuel Mercado as her ex-flame, and José Luis Muñoz as Prince Orlovsky, who holds the party where all the merriment takes place.

Octavio Pérez-Bustamante sings the role of Falke, the prankster who arranges all the comic deception. It will be sung in the original German, with spoken dialogue in English, and supertitles in English.

It tells the story of the opera singer Floria Tosca, as she fights to save her lover Cavaradossi from the corrupt police chief Scarpia. Scarpia is determined to kill Cavaradossi and ravage Tosca. Tosca is forced to strike a terrible bargain to save Cavarodossi. Who will survive this terrible intrigue?

With Puccini’s richly romantic score, it is one of the world’s most loved operas.

Joe Barretta and Gary Nelson on guitars and vocals, Steve Ashman on bass and David Rogers on drums perform originals and covers in a surprising, experimental way.

An award-winning performer who captures audiences with a powerful, soulful voice and eclectic taste spanning R&B, pop, rock, country, soul and folk.

He’s a seasoned singersongwriter with influences ranging from James Taylor to Frank Zappa, offering a heavy dose of folk with a sprinkling other genres.

Her soft and mature soulful vocal style, coupled with her versatile guitar skills, sets a mood that embraces audiences in a comfortable, relaxing way.

This singer-songwriter has a warm, sultry vibe, smooth, refined vocals, and superb acoustic guitar skills. Think ‘indie R&B with a jazzy pop flow.’

Scott is an indie-folk/country artist from the Foothills. Captivating melodies and lyrics about love and heartbreak demonstrate his sheer passion for music.

This acoustic duo performs pre-war Delta and Country Blues, with an aim to keep the genre alive by sharing it with others—and their joyful playing style!

A favorite singer-songwriter across the valley, she’s a threetime Modesto Area Music Award winner who plays Americanastyle music with a soulful take.

Modesto’s favorite honky-tonk band has opened for Kellie Pickler, Marshall Tucker Band and more. You’ll just love their ‘hot-rodded country’ sound.

A Tennessee native who learned old-time country, bluegrass and blues from his granddad, he brought his rich music roots from Memphis to Modesto!

Ramana is a Californian with Portuguese roots who performs Fado, the unique music of Portugal. “A new-age fadista,” says The New York Times.

Here’s a Chicago-style blues band fronted by Tony Westlake’s harmonica and vocals, combining classic 20’s blues with their own contemporary tunes.
