Trinity Church Galashiels On Sunday 4th of February we celebrate the first sacrament of Holy Communion of 2018. This service is at the usual me of 11.15am. The guild has also resumed their mee ngs with the first one of the year on Tuesday 9th January when John Gray an ex president of and Co Author of a book about the history of the Braw Lads Gathering was the speaker. There was a good turn out to hear this very interes ng talk and the commi@ee would like to encourage more people to come along and join them on alternate Tuesday a<ernoons in the church hall at 2.15pm. The organisa on is now known as the Church of Scotland Guild and not the Women’s Guild and men can join as well as women. There are 2 mee ngs scheduled for February and these are: Tuesday 6th - speaker David Bethune – subject “Care of the Environment” Tuesday 20th - subject “A visit to Iona” There is also a coffee morning on Saturday 10th in the church hall between 10am and 12 noon. The choir have also resumed their Thursday evening rehearsals under the direc on of Dorothy Howden our church musician. They meet between 7pm and 8.30 and would welcome anyone interested in singing to join them. There is a joint Kirk Session and Congrega onal Board Mee ng on Tuesday 13th February at 7pm in the hall and the clerk to the board, Mrs Karen Brockie has appealed for new members to join the Board to help in the smooth running of the church. Tea and coffee are served every Sunday before and a<er the service by a team of ladies who up until The end of the year were organised by Mrs Violet Howden. Violet has given up the stewardship of the “tea ladies” a<er more than 20 years and she was presented with flowers from the congrega on with their grateful thanks.
