In(Studio( ! We!started!to!prepare!our!drawing!on!1:1! based!on!the!given!part!that!had!assigned!by! our!tutor.! ! !My!part!is!the!North!Roof!of!the!Oval! Pavilion.!!At!first,!I!looked!through!the!related! architectural!and!structural!drawings!of!my! part.!It!was!quite!hard!for!me!to!find!out!the! accurate!calculation.!However,!form!the! structural!drawings!it!is!really!difficult!to! identify!my!part,!thus!only!some! measurements!can!be!obtained!from!it.!! ! We!also!went!to!the!workshop!next!door!to! have!a!look!at!the!roof!structures.!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The!whole!rooftop!is!a!nonGwalk!able!area!after!completion.!This!is! the! area! where! a! rooftop! indoor! garden! will! be! constructed.! Concrete!is!used!as!for!the!roof!due!to!the!present!of!the!garden.!It! has! the! load! bearing! capacity! to! support! wet! densities! and! also! other!infrastructures!such!as!pipes!and!lights.!! ! ! ! ! Opening:!Allow! lights! Concrete!Slabs! ! to! penetrate! through! G At!least! ! 250mm!thick! to!the!bedroom! ! G ! ! ! ! ! ! ! The!photo!on!the!right!shows!the!floor!of!the!penthouse!for!elevator.! It!has!to!be!built!as!first!due!to!the!flooring!system.!Due!to!the!elevator! need! to! penetrate! through! all! the! floors! and! after! pouring,! the! concrete!would!be!unworkable;!where!as!the!case!of!the!elevator!can! be! hardly! installed! to! the! foundation,! it! will! have! the! possibility! to! collapse.!! ! ! ! !


These!holes!are!being!suspected!for!their!function,!and!I!deduce!that!it!is! for!the!drainage!system!for!the!roof!top!garden,!which!allow!the!pipes!pass! through!the!building!and!allow!water!to!flow!out!of!the!building.!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Inside!the!building! !

! ! ! !!!!!!!!!!!Structural! steel! framing! is! being! used! as! the! structural! element! of! the! nonloadbearing!curtain!wall.!Timber!is!not!being!used!due!to!constructors!will.! ! ! ! Hot!rolling!is!used!due!to!its!cost,!which!is!cheaper!and!also!a!wider!tolerance.! ! ! ! ! !


Columns! Underground! Columns! are! used! in! order! to! transfer! load! to! the! foundation! from! the! top! levels.!Bricks!are!being!used!to!build!to!car!park.!! ! ! Thick!beams!are! being!used!due!to! height!restriction! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Conclusion(of(the(building( ! The!whole!building!is!made!out!of!concrete.!Car!stackers!are!used!for!parking! that! explains! the! height.! 95%! are! pre! cast! materials.! Major! issues! include! overhead! power! line! that! is! really! close! to! the! site! and! neighbours! complain! the!change!of!the!surroundings.!! !
