5 Ways to Survive a Recall Crisis Many companies are not prepared for a crisis let alone a recall. “It will never happen to me” is the mantra we hear so often. But have you thought if it happens, “Am I prepared to face a crisis?”

Here are five ways to survive a recall crisis. 1. Prepare For A Recall - A recall takes everyone involved by surprise – it’s a sudden, unplanned event. You can reduce the fallout by having a crisis plan in place. It should be a clear roadmap to follow when the bad thing happens. 2. Who’s On Your Recall Crisis Team? - Pick team members who can think on their feet, have relevant experience and are close geographically to the business. Train two teams – corporate managerial and manufacturing. Media train the spokesperson, hold on camera rehearsals and rehearse message points. 3. Keep Employees and Stakeholders in the Loop – Notify employees and stakeholders immediately: Tell them what’s going on and explain the organization’s response. Stop rumors by making updates available. Use slide show; email blasts; social media updates; press releases; and statements. 4. Create a Media Relations Plan - Have a media relations plan and select a person to be the media contact. He or she should have a good understanding of how media operate during a company crisis and should be able to provide ongoing information to media about how things are being handled. 5. Don’t Be Antisocial In a Crisis - Social media involvement is very important in a crisis. Why use social media in a crisis?  Offers affordable method for connecting people during a crisis  Knows what your audience is saying about your brand  Offers your corporate voice to channels via a blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Tellem Grody Public Relations, Inc 30745 Pacific Coast Highway, Ste. 243 Malibu, CA Zip: - 90265 PH: - (310) 313-3444
