building rehabilitation

The project consists of an intervention in an existing building, designed in 1961 by Antonio Eriberto Schwabe engineer. The proposal for the building is two simultaneous demands: rst, to rescue the authenticity of the building, turning it into heritage monument and at the same time, ll it with life adapting it to contemporary use and responding to the needs of a city of rise.

CONSTRUCTIVE SYSTEM

The building consists in a gastronomic center , whose structure follows a metal building system. The concept comes from the balance between two suspended blocks suspended for a combination of metal beam and pillar. The choice of slab steel deck provides the rational and constructive speed, essential in our times .

02

commercial building The project consistes in a commercial building where the development of the work came from the analogy with the element geode, a cavity of basaltic lava coated crystals inside. The project was conceived as a complex of restricted commercial space in a large lobby of geometric shapes. The space is articulated by large central void, in which a dynamic ow develops with a linear movement in the form of a bridge that acts as foyer and direct the person to the ofď€ ces.

public media library

The project consists in a Public Media Library to an underutilized area in the city of Maringรก, Paranรก, Brazil. The project has a esthetic inspiration in the ice element. The insertion of the collection in aloose, fragile area such as an ice layer , causes the breakdown of its surface. Forming faces that rise to house the library uses. Thus happens the sectorization of space, divided into 3 blocks : collection , administration and media. The result is a work that by its cognitive value and asymmetrical composition sets up a publicly highlighted object .

landscape - urban park The proposed urban park aimed to articulate the elements of different ownership scales to environmental structures preservation of the Rio Guaiapó springhead. The land is located in the limit of the cities Sarandi and Maringá. This location has an atypical landscape relationship, taking from the metropolitan scale the neighborhood scale. Largescale appropriation of activities (living and leisure) were deployed in large areas near the North Boundary. An underground terminal is proposed as a way to broaden and democratize access to the park. Together with the existing forest ranges, areas of contemplation and education decrease the scale of the neighborhood park landscape. The lake is proposed as a conversion of already existent three articial lakes. Sports activities and cultivation are distributed around the edges, encouraging perimeter occupation. The proposal of an environmental culture space proposes reconnecting the park user to endangered native species, as well as encourage environmental recovery of other degraded valley.

interior design - book store This is the interior project of a bookstore for the city of Maringá, Paraná, Brazil. The big challenge for the bookstore project was dribbling the arrangement of elements across the area of great footage - 246,55 square meters. The solution was split into two oors. This division into different levels, recalls traditional libraries and even designed by Alvar Aalto. To a v o i d t h e l o s s o f perspective in high ceiling areas, the solution was the lo w e r i n g o f t e n s i o n e d copper structures. The same time that the shape and design of the structure talks with an aesthetic fragment, also the dispositions of it in different levels provides the particularization or g e n e r a l i z at i o n o f t h e different spaces. The entire lighting project is suspended. It is proposed illumination rails sited on the copper structures, not making use of the lining. The entire lighting and air conditioner installation becomes uncovered.

nal work - cinematheque This work aims to develop the building CINEMATECA, a plural space dedicated to FILM CULTURE, and for the city of Maringá, Paraná, Brasil. The project organization had as a structuring element to design new ways for CINEMA PROJECTION ROOMS.

Intertainment art The organization of the activities developed according to the three senses of cinema:

CINEMA

Social practice Educator agent

The location of the chosen site ensures DEMOCRATIC ACCESS to the project due to the fact that is located next to the URBAN TERMINAL city and BRAZIL AVENUE pathway that is changing as a public transport corridor and bike path. Therefore, encourages the ow direction of the masses homes for the region surrounding the SQUARE RAPOSO TAVARES, and optimizes the area at the times in which it is underutilized. It is expected that the insertion of the project in fron of the unusable building CINE TEATRO PLAZA will incite the the reativation of the building. That way the project will be considered a important part spacial conjunt that, as all should work as a socio-cultural center.

08

programmatic scheme

The major design challenge was to reconcile the foot high right of ď€ lm projection rooms with the different Cinematheque uses. The adopted solution was to merge the activities around the cinema rooms, allowing internal visual integration between the various activities. the space is designed discontinuously a l lo w i n g t o c r e at e d i f f e r e n t sensations in the users. The creation process was based on the fragmentation, on the non-linear design process.

glulam pavilion

Imagine using a modular pavilion of 500m2 in different social, cultural and climatic contexts. No specific location, in a nonstatic place. It could host an art exhibition in Barcelona, an audiovisual projection in Lisbon, an advertising presentation in SĂŁo Paulo. Starting from a program composed by entrance, auditorium, exposition and cafeteria, the challenge was to design a pavilion without determining their location or use, where concepts such as as innovation, versatility, sensory, shelter, filtered light, rest, technology, social networks, will have a presence in the pavilion.

city on a tangente Poblenou, Barcelona The city within the city is the paradigm that has been used to create a zone of intense use and complexity that on accord of its diversity becomes a reection of the city of Barcelona though having its own structuring rules. This city aspires to be tangential to and traverse through the many layers of Poblenou's history. The materials used to make this tangible are simultaneously rational and irrational, urban and rural, homogenic and specic.

The proposed lighting design intervention at the Plaza Antonio Lopes, located between the roads Passeig d' Isabel and Vía Laietana intended to embrace two elds: Functional and Experiential . In the functional eld arises the denition of the spaces to avoid conicts between circulations and contemplation uses, and cover the lighting levels required for a public space. The experiential eld seeks to attract the users to the historical elements of the site, creating timeless links with the presence of the sea.

GENERAL PLAN

Master Thesis Liquid Architecture Work in progress*

Authorship design by the architecte Aina Tugores in collaboration with DAW Ofce and developed by FounDAWtion, the project for the community of Thionck Essyl, Senegal, Africa congures in the framework of international cooperation, development aid and social action, improving the educative system of the r e g i o n . A v o l u n ta ry g r o u p o f internacional architectes were the responsables for the management of the construction, phase I. The project was based on a constructive system that, besides satisfying the needs of an educational equipment, represents a formative model of the constructive knowledge. The school consists of modules that are arranged in a way that facilitates the growth of the school and its construction in phases. The main element of those modules is the compressed earth block (CEB) with which the vault is constructed. This system allows an efcient construction that maximizes the use of local and affordable materials.
