MURRAY’s Message Murray Backhouse General Manager August 2, 2018

Dear G7N Colleagues, I cannot believe I am writing to you and we are half way through the 4 th Quarter, it only felt like the other day that we were all together on Coconut Island having the best time together. I hope you have prepared yourself for the upcoming December rush or as we used to call it back home “The Silly Season”, I have no doubt that we are all on track to hit financial targets and planning for an even better 2019… I know we are!! Welcome to the 3 rd Quarterly G7N Newsletter, the third edition is one of our most informative Newsletters yet. We have included various member news, members’ interviews, and tips on why to attend the 2019 conference, tips to get the most out of the conference and the reveal of the G7 Cargo Cover logo, news on this to come at the conference. Yet another first from G7N and another reason toattend the conference. This quarter has been an extremely busy few months for us, not only did we launch the conference but we launched our brand new website, this is something I am personally ecstatic about. We have now after 3 years got a website that best portrays our ethos and quality of our members, we are a class above the rest and will maintain this image as long as I am in charge of G7N. We have also seen the announcement of our latest Vendor, BoxTop Technologies, BoxTop Technologies is a wellknown and recognized provider of freight management and transportation system software. They are a company of software professionals who will be beneficial to the members. 2 - Page

On top of this we have increased our staff count, he have added a 3 rd Customer Service Executive, a 3 rd Network Enhancement Executive and a full time PR and Marketing team. This has been put place as we look to increase the member to member interaction in 2019 and increase our member coverage. All this while staying in line with our original vision that was out lined 3 years ago when we started G7N. A vision to develop a committed group of companies that are focused on working together to drive long term relationships at a professional level. I want this vision to become a reality more than the next guy, but to make this vision a reality we need to see a complete buy in from all members. Many of you would have received my message this week explaining that if you do not attend the conference, it is not only a failure to the network but it is a failure to your company. We have seen this time over time, we have a 100% renewal rate of every member that has attended the conference and only a 96% retention rate for those that haven’t. Yes that number is high, but you can see that trend and as we grow the fear is that the 96% will slowly decrease and for us at G7N is unacceptable. It is a no brainer, to get the most out of your membership, it is vital for you to attend the 2019 Conference. We will continue to play our part in being the most professional network in the world and I have no doubt with you by our side we will get there. From everyone at G7N, we wish you all the best for the end of the year and we look forward to catching up very soon. I wish you all a prosperous end of year!

JAG UFS Hand Built Ship We was recently contacted by an private individual to ask if we could provide a quote for moving a hand built ship. Not any ship, this was a replica of HMS Victory (not to scale) that was launched in 1765, but of what it looks like today.

This took the customer 5 years to hand make and the attention to detail is somewhat, in a class of it’s own. A crate was built around it for support so that it didn’t move during transport and to keep it from damage. We are pleased to say that is was delivered to it’s final destination in the USA without a scratch. The customer even took the time to phone us today to say a personal ‘thank you’ for the excellent service.

So You Want to Start Warehousing and 3PL Distributing - 10 Tips from Whale Logistics

An efficient warehouse is critical for customer satisfaction because it helps ensure quick, accurate shipments. If you are a company that has outgrown your current warehouse and fulfillment operation, your best bet is to move onto a 3PL provider. Here are some tips to get started from Whale Logistics to establish effective operations from day one.

At the same time, storing more number of a product which has good demand is not so advisable warehouse inventory management technique. Digging deep into customer order history can also reduce storage cost.

Lean Inventory

Adopting lean inventory for your warehouse is just as important as it is in manufacturing. The basic premise of lean is only what you need, and nothing more. Possibly reduce or eliminate safety stocks, and try to get suppliers to deliver smaller quantities more frequently.

Warehousing and 3pl solution sydney Outline your existing operation.

Begin creating a strategic plan for your warehouse by looking at your current warehouse function. This will involve looking at your current facilities. How much space do you need? How many SKUs do you store? How do you organise different SKUs and fulfill orders (if you are an ecommerce)?

Determine your warehouse storage and inventory needs.

More likely than not, if you are looking for a 3PL solution, you have outgrown your current system or are looking for better, more efficient solutions. Consider organising items based on their material handling and storage traits. When estimating your inventory requirements think about seasonality and high selling products. Use previous data on inventory turnover to make accurate estimates.

Forecast Inventory Procurement/ Issue Timelines

Demand forecasting forms the base of predicting your inventory requirements and thereby the storage space you need to allocate.

10 - Page

Tech Enabled Inventory Tracking

Have any product in your warehouse without labels? Put labels on them to make it easier for pickers to choose the right inventory. It’s all about reducing errors in the process. A warehouse management system (WMS) or an ERP system with a strong WMS module can improve efficiency by suggesting the best routes and methods for picking or put-away.

Bar codes RFIDs can do good in finding a particular products in an ocean of stocks. The use of RFID and other technologies might seem a bit overboard for a small storage facility but when it comes to storing thousands of products in multiple warehouses, technologies can really be a boon.

Bin locations help in finding the products in quick time. Bin locations of products that are most frequently shipped can be placed in areas that are easily accessible. Planning of bin locations based on product demand can reduce time in finding products within a stocking facility and eventually delivery as well.

Work on warehouse organization

Cross Docking

Consider having bins for different SKUs and identify location for bins. Try using standardised bins to help keep shelves neat and orderly. Bin locations are segments that give the most accurate information on where a particular product is located right from the geographi-

Cross docking in one of the warehouse inventory management tips that minimizes shelf-time. Utilizing cross docking practices can vastly improve fulfillment speeds and storage costs. Products are delivered to a warehouse where they are sorted and prepared for shipment immediately – usually being reloaded onto other trucks stationed at the same warehouse.

Implement quality control

If you are employing a 3PL provider for your warehouse and fulfillment service, a quality control system is vital. Make sure you allow for time for quality control, such as packaging, shipping labels, returns and exchanges, and so on.

Maximise and optimise all available space

Without saying, maximize your investment by optimising all your available space. Of course, with a 3PL such as Whale, this is automatically done for you to ensure you don’t have to think about the small details on a daily basis.

Ensure safety standards are met

Your nominated warehouse must also have proper protocols for safety, such as accidents, employee training, and training for heavy duty equipment.

cal location to the number of the shelf. For a warehouse inventory management process to be clutter free, you will have to get the placements of the products right.

Areas must be marked with safety protocols including use of safe distance from danger zones, self protective gear, etc. Are you a company that is looking for a new warehouse or inventory solution? Whale recently opened our Ingleburn warehouse in July, and we’re open for inquiries. Contact us to find out more today.

Let’s start from the beginning, how and when did you begin working in the freight forwarding industry? JCNJ - I’ve been working in this industry for 24 years already. In Brazil, what are the challenges you face with regulations and other factors that affect shipping? JCNJ - The most agents outside of Brazil knows very well, how difficult are the Customs Rules in my country, there is a lot of bureaucracy and rules to follow. They know Brazil is as a difficult country. Multitrans Logistics do Brasil Ltda’s professional philosophy is to serve their clients whatever their needs may be, at the lowest cost, in the shortest time, continually seeking to meet their diverse needs, which have been brought on by the globalisation of trade and industry. Let’s get to know their Managing Director - José Carlos Nascimento Junior.

Speaking of regulations, what should people, shipping to your country, know about customs? JCNJ - We always send messages and emails, where we describe and teach the agents how to issue documents to Brazil, they only release the cargo after our green light.

How did you get into the freight and logistics industry? AB - First started in Shipping/Lyonel Makzoume who was TNT’s associate in Turkey and transferred to TNT in 1989 till 2003 May. What advice would you give to a person who is considering a career in the freight forwarding industry? AB - Chasing every single details of market and life, for being equipped.

In New Zealand, what are the challenges you face with regulations and other factors that affect shipping? MP - Definitely the low Kiwi dollar vs USD which is on a 3years low. A weaker dollar means higher costs for all our imports like petrol and everything else we buy overseas, from cars to computers, to the food we import as well. WiniPac Logistics Limited is part of an experienced global network with more than 170 countries around the world, offering world class service tailored for their client’s needs. A New G7N Experience

G7 Logistics Network has launched a new website! The new G7 website features a sleek and modern look while providing users with a streamlined experience. We have taken member feedback and used that to design a website for the members. Essentially it is a website by and for the members of G7N. We invite all members to login and browse around the website. We even encourage members to visit the pages of the site that aren’t frequent stops for them when searching the directory and finding partners for shipments.

16 - Page

We’ve added member photos to all member profiles, faster access to contact information by moving its location on the page, easier to use functions and clearer menus, plus a nice and friendly greeting with your photo after logging in. Do you like the new website? Are you happy with the changes we’ve made? Send an email to members@g7networks.com with your feedback.

Tips to form solid foundation of friendship in networking events

Attending networking events is necessary for any company or professional seeking for ways to expand their services’ reach. After all, there is no better way of developing business opportunities than building solid relationships with the right people. In b2b businesses such as logistics providers, these kinds of events play a role as an indirect marketing strategy – they give you the chance to be in touch with strategic connections and introduce your brand and services straight to your prospects. With the tips below, you’ll be more than prepared to successfully socialize on your next networking event! Check it out!

Prepare yourself ahead of time No one can beat a well prepared professional. If you wish to attend and connect with certain people, you have to plan ahead. If it’s your first time, bear in mind these few steps: 1.) Think of the goals you want to achieve during the event, this way you will not miss the purpose of attending. 2.) Get an access to the list of people who signed up for the event and research background information. 3.) Asking the right questions open good quality conversation. Prepare the set of questions ahead of time and ready to answer the questions they might ask you back. Then run-through what you have prepared.

Focus on building relationship rather than selling As the old saying goes, “First impressions last” no one would want to talk to somebody, who’s only purpose is to sell and not being conscious if they are even interested. Never commit this mistake. Networking can be a powerful sales tool, all throughout these events, the right approach is to introduce yourself and establish a solid relationship with strategic connections. By causing a good first impression, you will be ensuring that your prospects remember about you when in need of a service you provide. This is when the results start appearing!

26 - Page

Choose the right connection strategically Our Team spent a great time with our Thailand G7N members, who were representing their companies at their exhibition booths. The conversations about the network membership were positive and the team brought some valued feedback to the office to help to improve the network in some subtle ways. Overall, it was an amazing day for 3 of our newest team members. And this experience will benefit the future of G7 Networks development.

Don’t forget to conduct an effective follow-up Attending the event is the first stepping stone to a greater connection, but the follow-up after the event is what will give you benefits. Follow up - is the strategic way in converting these acquaintances into future members or your future exceptional partners.

Actively seeking for a logistics networking event? If you operate in logistic industry and looking for a suitable networking event to participate, we invite you to become our member and be part of our Annual conference that unites different logistics sector from almost 163 countries all over the world. 5 things to do in Hua-Hin Conferences passes are booked, beach clothes are packed and you are counting days to you “Work&Holiday getaway to Hua-Hin? Here are 5 things to do to take a full advantage of you short vacations:

1. Take a sip of some local vine and visit Monsoon Valley Vineyard restaurant It may be hard to believe, but it is possible to grow grapes in Thailand thanks to the soil, monsoon and climate condition in the hills of Hua Hin. It goes without saying that wine-tasting is mandatory here, and you can take your pick from their cellar before you start sipping and taking in the serene panoramic view of the vineyard from its al-fresco dining setting.

2. Swim at Pala-u-waterfall This cascade is found on the south side of Kaeng Krachan National Park, some 60km west of Hua Hin. The park is one of the largest in Thailand and sits right next to the Burmese (Myanmar) border. It is a beautiful spot to visit as you will pass through the stunning countryside on the 1.5 hours journey from Hua Hin. 3. Get an adrenaline rush at Vana Nava Having won a ‘Best of Thailand’ award, Vana Nava Water Park is Hua Hin’s newest attraction and boasts Asia’s first water jungle and 19 different slides and thrills – from The Abyss – the largest slide in Thailand, to the country’s only vertical looping slide, the Aqualoop! Even though Kiddie Cove caters for younger children, you want to come to Vana Nava for the thrills and spills, after all, that’s what it is known for.

Testimonials

“There is nothing in the world that can replace the one on one interaction with your business partners, and a chance to get to know their personality, and enjoy their company. It is probably the most valuable tool of network membership, as the trust aspect of the relationship develops much faster through the personal interaction of the conference.”

“This is a special one, because we learned a lot and benefited a lot. G7N conference is like a family gathering, it is very relaxing and comfortable. The party reduced our high pressures at work and makes us feel at home like being with family and friends.” Lisa Chen - General Manager Best-Time International Logistics Co., Ltd

“Atmosphere at G7N conferences has always been friendly and warm. I enjoyed most the moment ,when we can share with other members our time and from this point of view, I suggest to my team to organize half day team building bringing most of our members somewhere and choose a venue to have fun together and enjoy leisure activities.”

“It has been the excellent relationship between members as well as the mutual understanding between the network's staff and the attendees. It was my first conference and I felt immediately welcome by most of my fellow comrades as if we knew each other for some time already. We enter as foreigners and leave as friends...”
