F.W. Webb Company announced that it will purchase 14.3 acres at the city-owned industrial park for $1 million, and will construct a twophase distribution center costing about $8 million. Each phase will be about 65,000 square feet. The industrial park is located Edward J. Welch, Regional Manager of on Performance Boulevard, off F.W. Webb Co., at the podium. Looking on, from left, are Michael F. Golden, president Roosevelt Avenue. F.W. Webb is the largest dis- of Smith & Wesson, Kateri B. Walsh, Springfield city councilor, John D. Judge, tributor of plumbing, heating, chief development officer, and Springfield cooling, and piping products Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. in the Northeast, and will become the second tenant of the industrial park. The city purchased the land from Smith and Wesson in 2006, and secured its first tenant, Performance Food Group, in 2007. Local officials, including Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief Development Officer John D. Judge, gathered at the industrial park, to welcome F.W. Webb during a press conference Tuesday. The company will initially employ 20 people and is expecting to grow to 40 to 50 people over the next few years, said Ed J. Welch, F.W. Webb’s regional manager in Methuen. Most of the jobs will pay between $12.50 per hour for warehouse work to the low-$20 range, Welch said. The distribution center will be built in two phases, expected to begin in the spring. The company will continue to operate smaller plants in Northampton and Greenfield, and is also opening new sites in Hyannis and Boston. “We are thrilled to have a blue chip company like F.W. Webb announce expansion plans for a facility in our city,” Sarno said.

ITT Engineered Valves Delivering high quality, innovative flow control solutions for Abrasive Wear Resistance, Corrosion Resistance, and Critical/Hazardous Containment in a wide range of industries worldwide.

Fabri-Valve c67 popular option now standard! The mechanical retained seal option is now standard on all sizes of the Fabri-Valve C67’s ordered after October 1, 2009. This popular option features set screws that are drilled into the bottom portion of the flange. These screws press against the seal that is retained in the valve body by its trapezoidal shape. Since the feature is now standard, there is no additional cost for this popular feature. If you have any questions, please contact your F.W. Webb Sales Representative.

Cam-Tite® and Cam-Line® ball valves with H-Series Compact

actuators have been converted to C-Series Compact II actuators. The Compact II is one of the most rugged actuators on the world market. Due to its ruggedness, Compact offers a seven year warranty on the actuator.

Advantages of the C-Series Compact actuators: • Powerful - Four pistons generate twice the torque of comparably sized two piston designs • Energy saver - Reduces the average air consumption by 50% due to compact physical size • Fastest - Has faster stroke due to shorter travel distance • Smallest and Lightest - Size is about 50% of a traditional 2 piston actuator with same torque value, due to the 4 piston design • Minimal easy maintenance • Less wear of moving parts (piston and o-rings) than any traditional 2 piston actuator due to the concentric pistons design • Safe springs configuration change with cover bolts long enough to release spring load before removing the cover • Easy spring configuration changes, due to concentric spring structure • Wide options of Fail/Safe combinations, particularly in low air operating pressure The H-Series actuator has been discontinued and ITT will no longer ship or quote the obsolete H-Series actuator. If you have any questions, please contact your F.W. Webb Sales Representative.

 Ceramic Ball Valves Due to the advanced properties of the technical ceramics used, Fujikin Ceramic Ball Valves offer significant advantages over standard material ball valves. Fujikin valves guarantee a valve that is superior in all respects, including resistance to: • Corrosion. 99.5% alumina ceramic is virtually inert to almost all organic and inorganic chemicals. They do not interact with, nor contaminate the process media. They are physically and chemically stable against most acids and alkalis, and offer years of service with little or no corrosive degradation. • Abrasion. 99.5% alumina ceramic is 43% harder than zirconia, 140% harder than porcelain, and 730% harder than stainless steel, an indication of the long-term wear-resistance properties of our valve materials. • Cavitation. Even severe, continuous cavitation will not degrade or damage our ceramic valve components. Therefore, the Cosmix Ball Valve may be used in cavitating or high differentialpressure applications with little or no harmful effects. • Wide selection of trims. 2-year warranty against corrosion, abrasion, and/or faulty workmanship.

Today’s thermoplastic piping systems, offer features and benefits that can help to overcome the challenges of escalating construction costs and minimize harmful impact to our environment. These thermoplastic piping systems are lighter in weight, resistant to corrosion, have smoother interior surfaces than metals, and require less energy in total from manufacture to installation; all of this makes plastic piping systems a wise choice for your

next application!

A Cost-Effective Solution for Photobioreactors and Other Green Energy Applications Harvel® EnviroKing®UV has been developed as a clear UV resistant PVC piping that is suitable for exposure to sunlight. Unique UV blocking technology reduces harmful ultraviolet light wavelengths from penetrating the plastic while allowing beneficial wavelengths through.

As a result of extensive research, Ternion Bio Industries has selected EnviroKing™, a unique UV resistant clear PVC piping by Harvel® Plastics, Inc., as a key component in the manufacturer of its distinct, patent-pending photobioreactor system.

These unique attributes provide a durable containment vessel that has been optimized to improve light transmission through the pipe without jeopardizing product integrity. This enables Harvel® EnviroKing®UV to provide a cost-effective solution for photobioreactor tubing used in the renewable energy industry and other outdoor applications.

“EnviroKing UV ThinWall 4-inch pipe provided an additional 11% better growth environment than any other pipe we tested,” says Chris Schuring, Ternion Bio’s chief operations officer. “In the ability to be used as a scalable product, we feel it has no issue that would make the product unavailable for scaled systems. EnviroKing is the standard by which we will measure all others, and we look to use this pipe in all of our scaled Photo BioReactors.” A comprehensive case study about the development of Ternion’s photobioreactor system is available at EnviroKingUV.com.

Features include: • • • • • • • • •

Manufactured to both ThinWall™ and standard Schedule 40 dimensions Joined utilizing simple solvent-welded joining techniques Manufactured to IPS dimensions—Fully compatible with standard PVC pipe, fittings, and valves Corrosion resistant Non-conductive Lightweight, easy to handle and install Lower overall installed cost than glass, acrylic, or other transparent alternatives

Ternion Bio’s advanced photobioreactor technology captures carbon dioxide emissions and processes them to serve as the catalyst for the growth of algae, which then becomes the raw material for a wide range of beneficial products.

 harford walk-in box There’s a lot to take into account when selecting walk-in coolers and freezers. One size doesn’t fit all – you need the right dimensions, details and accessories to find a walk-in that will be right for your operation. A Harford walk-in is created to suit your exact needs. To make that possible, we start with sectional panels that can be configured to create exactly the walk-in you require, in virtually any shape or dimensions. Those panels are fabricated with durable skins – you’ll choose the variety of metal that’s best for you – sandwiched around a four-inch thickness of super-insulating poured-foam urethane. The panels are supported by a durable floor of the same basic construction, and complemented by exactly the accessories you need. When it’s finished, you’ll have a walk-in that’s truly tailored to your needs. Expect economy, long life and a favorable repair record. Often Copied, Never Equaled… What makes the Spirax Sarco 25-Series regulators such hot sellers year after year? At the top would be its versatility. This family of self-acting pressure and temperature regulators with control pilots offers interchangeable main valves for most steam applications. Options for pressure regulation include pressure reduction (25P), combined pressure reduction with electrical on/off override (25PE), and as a backpressure regulator (25BP). Colorcoded, interchangeable springs allow quick and easy change of downstream pressure range, eliminating the need to isolate the valve or break the steam line. Options for temperature regulation include temperature control (25T) as well as combined temperature control with electrical on/off override (25TE). Seven pre-calibrated temperature ranges are interchangeable throughout the range. The 25-Series is available in sizes 1/2” to 6” with screwed and flanged connections. Designed for lasting durability and precision, the 25-Series main valve is single-seated with hardened stainless steel trim. It is covered by an extended 2-year warranty.
