The Memory Village
The memory village is an intergenerational living complex, bringing together the Millennial and Baby Boomer generations through design which encourages socialisation and aids memory function. The approach to the design is ‘salutogenic’, meaning that the architecture in itself produces health, such as through having views to nature from almost every position in the building, and an atrium which floods natural daylight into the building. The production and ceremonial eating of oily pickled herring helps to boost memory function, tackling the problem of an ageing population’s growing susceptibility to alzheimer’s disease.
OANA RADU Hydroponic Urban Farm A hydroponic urban farm focuses on providing local food source, grown vertically where plant roots are misted rather than submerged in water saturated soil, a method present since ancient civilizations. A closed loop system, that recycles and makes use more efficiently and effectively of inputs - water which is consumed in higher amounts and wasted in traditional agriculture.
