ISE’s 20th anniversary gift to Barcelona
Digital artist and ISE Keynote speaker Sofia Crespo wowed visitors to Casa Batlló last weekend as she transformed the building into a canvas for technology-driven art. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of ISE and the 200th anniversary of Passeig de Gràcia, one of the major avenues in Barcelona and home to Casa Batlló, ISE sponsored a projection mapping on the façade of the iconic Gaudí building as a gift to the city of Barcelona. Produced in collaboration with the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and utilising Panasonic projectors, the innovative mapping, entitled ‘Structures of Being’, attracted more than 95,000 spectators on Saturday and Sunday evening and was also live-streamed on the Casa Batlló website. Rich in textures, creatures and natural phenomena, the work featured music by generative composer Robert M Thomas and featured local musicians including organist Juan de la Rubia and the Cosmos Quartet string quartet. Crespo will present her Keynote, ‘Making “Structures of Being”’, on the ISE Show Floor Stage in Hall 4 at 13:15 on 1 February.

20th anniversary sees ISE bigger and broader than ever before
By Michael Burns
Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, organiser of ISE, is excited. Really, really, excited. “This is the biggest show ever,” he said. “We have over 1,349 exhibitors and 82,000 net square metres of floor space. It’s 30% bigger than last year, and about 15% bigger than 2019, which was our record year. Pre-registration is running ahead of where we were in 2019, so we are looking at a record show. I can’t be anything but excited.” Blackman was speaking to the ISE Daily in front of the South Access, where a massive transparent LED screen greets visitors entering ISE 2024. “This screen is a landmark,” said Blackman. “It’s the biggest LED screen on any exhibition venue in Europe, and the biggest LED screen anywhere in Barcelona. It means our attendees see AV before they even get in to the show.” ISE 2024 marks the event’s 20th anniversary and there’s certainly plenty to celebrate. “There are so many things happening here all week. It’s hard to pinpoint one,” enthused Blackman. “In Hall 4 we’ve got the America’s Cup Challenge Land Yacht, we’ve got several virtual studios doing live broadcasts, Samsung are making a global launch here, and we have some very important people coming from the government. “We’re getting senior executives from the most important companies in the industry coming to attend ISE. It’s a credit to my team,
Blackman: “Our attendees see AV before they even get in the show”
and it’s a credit to our exhibitors that they should see the significance of the show.” ISE attendees will also notice the expanding presence of broadcast technology at ISE. Blackman says it’s because “broadcast is growing into AV”. “They’re using AV technology more and more, so those customers are coming here,” he continued. “We’re also seeing growth in live events, in lighting and staging, as well as in collaboration. Again, it’s because their customers are here. It’s not that ISE is trying to be the be-all and end-all. It’s that our industry is incorporating more and more different sectors, and people are coming here to find out about AV. We’re growing in so many areas, and that just makes this show so exciting.”
Celebrating two decades of success with a band of dedicated supporters Representatives of the 25 companies that have exhibited at every ISE since the show first took place, in Geneva in 2004, were joined by Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, and senior figures from ISE co-owners AVIXA and CEDIA, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show. These founding exhibitors are AV Stumpfl, Barco, Christie, Crestron, CUE, Daktronics, DAS Audio, Genelec, Harman International Industries, Jupiter Systems, Kramer, Legrand AV, Leyard, Lumens Digital Optics, Lutron, Meyer Sound, Oray, RGB Spectrum, Sennheiser, SMS/Evoko, Sonance, Technology Integration Partners, Tutondo, Vogel’s Product and WolfVision. “We had 120 companies in the first show, but some of them don’t

exist anymore,” said Blackman. “There were a lot of companies that we lost because they got acquired by other companies. Others [from that founding year] haven’t been at every single show; they’ve exhibited intermittently at ISE because of other commitments and shows in other parts of the world. For example, we had NAMM happening in the US last week; it’s a big challenge for the pro-audio companies trying to do two shows on top of each other. But I have good news for those guys: next year, we’re running from 4-7 February. “But these 25 companies are exhibitors who have been with us for the whole 20 years, who have really supported us and have been there. We think that’s fantastic. We are so grateful for their support.” —michael burns

A catalyst for AV market growth
By Colby Ramsey
ISE 2024 co-owner AVIXA is bringing its industry expertise to this year’s event as it continues to connect the wider AV community. The association’s CEO Dave Labuskes revealed how the organisation will align its presence with the show, leveraging the 2.6 million views it received last year on AVIXA TV and the thousands of online visitors to AVIXA Xchange all year round. “The idea of AVIXA TV is to be able to present thought leadership in an engaging fashion during the show. That relies upon the energy of the show and its attendees, but lives beyond the show,” said Labuskes. “The idea of Xchange LIVE on the other hand is almost in reverse; we’re bringing our online community together here into this physical space to communicate on areas of interest to them.” AVIXA Xchange LIVE is the in-person activation of the AVIXA Xchange virtual community. At ISE 2024, the association is presenting four days of interactive sessions as part of AVIXA Xchange Live, covering disruptive tech, environmental social governance in AV, professional development, AI, mental health in the hybrid workplace and much more. These sessions take place on stand 4G300. “AVIXA exists for two reasons; one is to be a catalyst for market growth,” Labuskes added. “If the AV industry market grows, and we can contribute to that growth, then we’re serving one of our key missions. The other is to be a hub for the professional community to bring people who identify themselves as AV professionals together.” On Friday, AVIXA and CEDIA are focusing on AV careers, discussing the power of the Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) programme and welcoming esports professionals to talk about how to get into such careers. “This year we have hundreds of students coming in from all over Europe for AV Career Day, and we’re connecting them with employers that are looking for talent,” said Labuskes. “The cool thing for me is watching people get excited about how they can actually do this for a living. It’s a fantastic way to end the week.”
AVIXA CEO Dave Labuskes looks forward to connecting employers with prospective AV professionals

Shining a light on residential tech
By Colby Ramsey
CEDIA is using ISE 2024 to share the story of its three pillars – advocacy, connection and education – with the masses, said global president & CEO Daryl Friedman, who explained how the association continues to work with governments all around the world to make sure the industry is protected, and its members can work effectively. “We’ve brought our world-class education programme to Barcelona, and we also have an app for our online community that we’ll be announcing this year,” he revealed. “We’re really focusing on educating consumers, getting them to understand the value of working with an integrator and the professionalism that brings to your home.” CEDIA has moved its annual meeting to ISE, providing the opportunity for meaningful dialogue between its members and to explain the advancements in residential technology. Taking place tomorrow at 14:00 on the Smart Home Technology Stage in Hall 2, it will also serve as an opportunity to talk about the functions of CEDIA and how its operations can be improved, making it a more viable and valuable institution for its members. One of the key themes the company will be covering throughout ISE is workforce development: “Talent shortages are still a problem, and we want to make sure that people get into this industry,” said Friedman. “We’ll also be talking about our new RP22 which is the immersive audio standard, and a major breakthrough in terms of standardising and professionalising the audio industry.” At last year’s show CEDIA launched CEDIA NextGen, a platform designed to attract and retain industry talent. New additions this year include a video designed for young people that CEDIA will leverage at ISE 2024. “In addition to that video, we have a toolkit that our integrators can use with posters for schools and trade fairs, as well as data they can
Friedman: “We want to make sure that people get into this industry”
leverage on wage comparisons, and already filled-out job descriptions that they can customise. It’s everything that an integrator would need to bring in talent,” he added. Meanwhile, CEDIA’s 2023 Professional Smart Home Market Analysis (revealed on Thursday at 15:00 on the Smart Home Technology Stage) has found that the size of the industry is much larger than expected. Friedman sees huge optimism for growth, with the industry essentially still in its infancy. “Wellness and sustainability are going to be major new categories for our integrators because they’re so important to consumers,” he said, “while AI is, of course, going to be a massive game changer in our industry.”

Customised to commercialised; easy adaptation at ISE
Known for its reputation in broadcast audio, Glensound’s recent expansion into gaming and AV means customising successful products to fit into new environments; which the UK manufacturer has no problem with doing. The company says having full control of the manufacturing process makes this simple, and the launch of its DARK8MAIP to the fixed installation market at ISE is a case in point. The original DARK8MAIP is an eight-input portable microphone amplifier that can be controlled from the GlenController Windows remote application. Multiple units can be employed and Dante/AES67 network connectivity simplifies the installation and increases reliability. Twin Ethercon connectors are supplied for copper connections and SFP slots for fibre, while redundant Power over Ethernet and local 12V power options are included. The DARK8MAIP was designed to equip a large house of worship, whose existing installation was based on cabling using Phoenix connectors, and Glensound has modified the DARK8 to have Phoenix connectivity.

South Access wows with transparent LED display As many ISE visitors will have noticed, the South Access of Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue has had something of a makeover with the addition of a 193sqm transparent LED display. ISE 2024 marks the unveiling of this impressive Welcome Screen, which will become a permanent fixture for the venue. The transparent LED display is based on the Muxwave M3 LED screen with a 3.9mm pixel pitch and offers the flexibility to adapt to various surface geometries. Sono, entrusted with system design and installation, has integrated more than 950 tiles of transparent screen into the glass façade. Ventuz and Realtime Department also worked closely with the ISE 2024 team to ensure a seamless bridge between programming and on-site installation for the exhibition.
A Ventuz Runtime dual server cluster delivers engaging visuals to the LED wall while the Ventuz Multi-GPU cluster will allow the content to be played out with fewer servers, reducing initial hardware costs. Due to its impressive size and strategic location, the display promises to captivate attendees while also allowing the interior of the building to remain visible through the content, creating a seamless amalgamation of technology and architecture. The potential of the display will be showcased by digital artist and ISE keynote speaker Jeroen van der Most tomorrow, when he uses it to present his visually stimulating piece, titled ‘Bee Barcelona’. He will use AI to merge his creative mind with that of a bee as he takes the audience on an immersive journey. Performances are at 12:30 and 19:00.

Association News
Educate yourself in immersive audio design CEDIA, the association for smart home professionals, released a new recommended practice for immersive audio system design in collaboration with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) in 2023. CEDIA/CTA – RP22 Immersive Audio Design Recommended Practice is the first recommended practice to define an objective set of performance criteria for home audio systems. “Delivering high-performing audio systems is a huge part of what our industry does; whether you are a manufacturer creating the product to facilitate this, or the integrator designing and installing the system,” comments Daryl Friedman, global president and CEO of CEDIA. “We are all involved. Yet until now, there’s been no clear guidance for the industry to follow.”
Introducing RP22
The new recommended practice for immersive audio design (RP22) redefines how we quantify system performance. This is the first time that system performance metrics are defined by distinct levels, instead of vague ‘good, better, best’ packages or ‘low, middle, high’ cost models. And the new definitions aren’t just for the integrator’s benefit. With RP22, manufacturers know their products are functioning as intended and customers understand the breadth of what they’re paying for.
Having clearly defined levels not only holds integrators accountable, but also elevates our industry to the highest professional standard. This document is a guideline on how spaces should be designed to ensure a standard of audio performance is achieved. It’s been broken down into four performance levels: • Level 1: Conveys basic artistic intent • Level 2: A higher level of performance with additional accuracy for artistic intent • Level 3: Meets or exceeds reference commercial cinema standards • Level 4: Achieves the maximum level of performance across every parameter RP22 ensures the homeowner will know what they’re getting, the integrator will know what they’re designing, and the manufacturer will know that their product is going to perform ideally for the room. “This document provides objective parameters and recommendations for designing immersive audio systems within the broader context of entertainment spaces such as home/private cinemas, theatres, screening rooms and mastering environments. Notably, it remains neutral with respect to products and formats and is adaptable to a wide range of room sizes and budgets. My hope is that RP22 will lead to a shift away from a product-centric mindset,
towards engineering design credibility,” says Peter Aylett, partner, Officina Acustica and RP22 working group chair. To educate yourself on this topic, download the full CEDIA/CTA – RP22 Immersive Audio Design Recommended Practice documentation for free at www.cedia. org/advocacy/standards-best-practices/ immersive-audio-design-excellence.
Training at ISE 2024
For those who have read the document and are interested in expanding on this knowledge, CEDIA is running an Immersive Audio Design Excellence Workshop on Thursday 1 February in room CC1.1 from 12:30. This advanced workshop will introduce new guidelines outlined in the CEDIA/CTA RP22 Immersive Audio Design Recommended Practice, with a focus on the four new objectively defined levels of performance that will define different levels of immersive audio experience. We will follow a ‘teach, then do’ approach for the class, with participants working in small groups to apply some of the guidelines to real-world rooms. Specific products and brands will not be discussed and we will be taking a purely objective engineering approach. Head to the CEDIA stand (2H500) to book onto this training course.

Executive Profile
Immersive tech and AI take centre stage
By Colby Ramsey
Eduard Gil, manager, Catalan AV Cluster
Visitors to ISE 2024 can once again discover a range of compelling options when it comes to the conference programme, including a series of Tech Talks organised by several curators, the Catalan AV Cluster among them. This free-to-attend programme of daily sessions will be held in both English and Spanish. This year’s programme is covering the full scope of advancements and trends in the AV world, as Eduard Gil, manager of the Catalan AV Cluster, reveals. “Over the past year we have been working on various cross-cutting technologies which have guided our programme at ISE: AI, virtual production and immersivity,” he explains. Regarding virtual production, Gil points out that Catalonia has been positioning itself to compete on a national and European level with the recent opening of two new VP studios – Lavinia’s Plató Nou and another from Getsmusic – as well as the construction of a third by AV market leader Mediapro. “As a cluster, we aim to promote the local industry but also to engage in international dialogue and knowledge sharing, so we will celebrate a meeting at ISE between these and other European virtual studios,” he adds. “We will also discuss the emergence of new professional profiles and the modification of existing ones due to the advent of these new types of studios.” As immersive content continues to evolve, with Sphere in Las Vegas being a much talked about recent example, immersive technology is redefining how consumers experience content and it is providing new opportunities for audiovisual narrative and audience interaction. On Thursday, the Catalan AV Cluster is presenting the case study of Aura Invalides by its creators Moment Factory. Aura has transformed the iconic dome of Les Invalides in Paris into an impressive spectacle of light, video, architecture, sound and special effects.

Also on Thursday, the Cluster is hosting a panel discussion about immersive experiences in the field of leisure, detailing iconic projects such as the Barça Museum (Univrs) and the IDEAL digital arts centre, an initiative by Layers of Reality and Minoria Absoluta.
Tech Tours
The Cluster has also been involved in this year’s Tech Tours programme, which takes visitors behind the scenes of major AV installations in Barcelona. “There is also a strong presence of immersivity in our Tech Tours,” adds Gil. “Initiatives in this direction are on the rise in Catalonia, demonstrating significant growth potential and increasing demand. Spaces such as The Great Library of Tomorrow are increasingly complementing traditional museography with, in this case, a digital museum with VR and XR experiences. “These examples complement the more established ones, such as Casa Batlló or IDEAL, which we will also have the opportunity to visit. We will also see how the idea of incorporating immersivity and enhanced experiences extends to the world of cinema through technologies such as ScreenX and 4DX. Today, we will visit Plató Nou, equipped with the latest LED volume, production lighting, media server and processing technologies, and on Thursday we will witness a remote surgery demonstration using the ORisTIC technology developed by Ditec.” The Catalan AV Cluster is also launching its Switch Report 2024 on the ISE Partner Stage at 15:30 today. This acclaimed report highlights recent trends in AI and how it is transforming the way AV content is created and distributed. “Among the applications of AI, we will focus on how data and sentiment analysis are used to identify consumption patterns and preferences, allowing the adaptation of audiovisual content based on their success forecasts,” says Gil. “AI is progressively integrating into the entire value chain, and is assisting in tasks like documentation and research, script creation, storyboarding, recording, filming, post-production work and visual effects. In recent times, tools for actor re-aging and cloning – including voice – have improved, opening the door to the creation of hyperrealistic synthetic characters that can be used as hosts, narrators, influencers and more.”

Google | Stand: 2N800
Don’t bin it, just Flex it
Google is on the ISE show floor encouraging visitors to reduce their total cost of ownership and drive sustainability with ChromeOS. The company cites a paper by Justin Sutton-Parker of the University of Warwick which states that annual end-user computing devices have a carbon footprint of 556,000,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, and it would take a forest four times the size of France to remove the equivalent pollution from the atmosphere each year. With ChromeOS Flex, users can upgrade their existing devices with a secure operating system and give a second life to their machines. This can reduce IT overheads, time to deploy and maintenance costs; reduce energy consumption by up to 19% on ChromeOS devices; and bring modern computing to legacy devices and increase their lifespan. ISE visitors are encouraged to bring their device to the Google stand in Hall 2 where the team will convert it (the process only takes a few minutes). —james mckeown www.google.com

Arcadia Central Station benefits from IP interfacing connectivity
Clear-Com | Stand: 5H620
IP connectivity enhances Arcadia
I.V. Direct – an IP interfacing feature that supports distributed workflows – is one of the enhancements in the latest update of Clear-Com’s Arcadia Central Station intercom system. The new interfacing capability connects Arcadia and the LQ Series of IP interfaces, the Eclipse HX digital matrix system (via E-IPA card) and other Arcadia systems over LAN, WAN or internet. I.V. Direct connections allow intercom audio, logic controls and call signals to be passed between separately managed Clear-Com systems and assigned to channels, groups and keys in the individual systems. Notably, this can be done with easy set-up for various levels of network quality of service and internet-friendly security features. The update also provides a substantial increase in capacity for FreeSpeak beltpacks, transceivers and HelixNet endpoints, resulting in a 1RU intercom that supports 285 input/output connections on a single system. Meanwhile, interfacing with LQ allows Arcadia users to expand their analogue connections using two-wire, four-wire and GPIO ports, and support Clear-Com’s and virtual clients’ two-way radios and SIP telephony. —david davies www.clearcom.com

Extra help without the headcount
Zoom AI Companion is the new generative AI assistant that “helps you get time back without adding to your headcount”, according to the company. AI Companion can summarise meetings, manage in-meeting questions and suggest responses. The company invites visitors to imagine a brainstorming session where AI can prompt new ideas on a virtual whiteboard and forward a meeting summary to absent colleagues. The new feature is seen by the company as a vital part of its collaboration platform and is designed to help organisations by giving them more time to focus on their core business. —james mckeown www.zoom.com

The transformative power of digital signage laid bare
By Monica Heck
PICTURE: GETTY IMAGE
The Digital Signage & DOOH Zone in Hall 6 promises to demonstrate the transformation of digital signage into an indispensable tool across multiple verticals, including retail, corporate and education. Despite the rise of ecommerce and the social media influencer, customers are still seeking personalised in-store experiences as part of the post-Covid retail rebound. As bricks and mortar and hybrid-online stores are here to stay, digital signage plays a very important role in terms of brand management. Visitors to the Digital Signage & DOOH Zone will see how digital signage can direct the in-store experience, by helping brands engage customers in a personalised manner to drive commercial success. Hot
topics this year will include turnkey digital signage solutions, touch-free interactivity, customisation and analytics, multisensory and immersive experiences, AI-powered signage and a focus on accessible and environmentally friendly solutions. Tomorrow’s Digital Signage Summit, which runs from 10:30-14:30 in room CC5.1, will demonstrate that digital signage
solutions can no longer be designed and operated in silos. The summit will offer market updates and trend outlooks, and touch upon the benefits of LED technology integration into billboards, the power of the proof-of-concept, the use of generative AI in signage, the importance of IT security, and how to succeed in rolling out green signage to combat the climate crisis.

Insight
The dawn of a new era in AI and spatial computing
By Yanna Zhu, venture architect, immersive and emerging technologies specialist, BCG As we journey through 2024, the realms of generative AI and spatial computing are not just evolving, they are converging to redefine our digital interactions and experiences. Last year was pivotal for AI, with innovations such as ChatGPT, Midjourney and DALL-E making headlines. Simultaneously, advances in XR hardware with HTC’s Vive XR Elite, Meta’s Quest 3 and Apple’s highly anticipated introduction of the Vision Pro offer us more capable spatial computing devices which increasingly blend our physical environment with virtual content. These recent developments indicate a future where AI and spatial computing are deeply intertwined, in that spatial computing devices are becoming
an interface for AI-powered content. The most exciting aspect of this fusion lies in the democratisation of content creation, giving virtually anyone the ability to become a creator, regardless of their technical knowledge. New tools and devices truly break down the barriers that once reserved innovation for those with specialised skills or technical knowledge. With generative AI, intricate and complex ideas can be transformed into tangible digital creations through intuitive interfaces, making sophisticated design, animation and virtual experiences accessible to a broader audience. Spatial computing devices then allow users to interact with and shape their
digital environments in a more natural, three-dimensional and human-centric manner. This democratisation not only fosters a rich diversity of perspectives and ideas but also heralds a new era of inclusive innovation, igniting a global renaissance of digital artistry and invention.

Defining the next generation of pro PTZ
By Chris Evans, principal analyst, Futuresource Consulting Pro PTZs (pan-tilt-zoom cameras) have been instrumental in bringing professional video acquisition to a more diverse range of end users, largely due to their convenience and ease of use. Last year, the industry began to build upon this core quality, with this trend set to define much of the pro-PTZ market in 2024. A plethora of vendors have recently introduced new products that add autotracking skills to their cameras. Many pro PTZs are now used in scenarios with only a limited number of operators. Therefore, having video sources that can be operated more independently and feature enhanced production quality or aid smoother communication is a worthwhile investment. There has been a heightened buzz around
intelligent self-directing cameras ever since ChatGPT emerged. However, it’s worth noting that auto-tracking and automation do not necessarily utilise true artificial intelligence. While brands can, of course, bolster their cameras’ auto-tracking capabilities through AI integrations, having an AI pedigree is not necessary to break into the auto-tracking game. In addition, the quality of auto-tracking cannot be proven on a spec sheet. ISE will be a vital proving ground for the next generation of auto-tracking products, and distributors and resellers would be wise to rigorously test the cameras on display to ensure they live up to the hype. This leap forward in pro-PTZ technology has been welcomed as a true product
upgrade driver. Expanding upon the original value proposition of pro PTZs, auto-tracking and automation features should ultimately encourage a greater proliferation of video throughout the world of AV.

Brands: the new broadcasters
By Ciarán Doran, conference chair, Content Production & Distribution Summit
The tagline ‘Brands: the new broadcasters’ may seem a little provocative until you learn that a fashion brand recently streamed its show directly to hundreds of millions of viewers without a single piece aired via traditional broadcast television. In addition, a whisky brand hired a Hollywood A-list star and director of cinematography for an eightminute feature film that makes you want to watch the series. Also, what would seem, on the face of it, a rather innate corporate brand won an Academy Award for a hard-hitting mini-feature that challenges the ‘treat-brain’ comfort-seeking entertainment we all watched through Covid. AV broadcasting is on a fascinating journey that dares to transform the way we consume and share information and entertainment about our favourite brands and companies. Pro AV has grown significantly in recent years, but something different is happening now. While brands stream live content to viewers, they are scraping up subscribers and
customer details and building one-to-one relationships. This is a massive shift from only communicating via television advertising and its notoriously hard-to-measure ROI. While it’s highly unlikely that brands will replace broadcasters any time soon, their goal in marketing terms is to reach end consumers and engage with them. Changes in consumer behaviour and media consumption, along with accessible technologies, now allow brands to deliver video content to their audiences, in more direct and engaging ways, and it’s a win-win: they already communicate directly for commercial transactions, why not give them exciting content too? At the Content Production & Distribution Summit tomorrow, we will hear from a range of experts about why this market vertical is so important, including traditional broadcast manufacturers and service providers who are supplying technology, creating content and delivering it to end consumers. The industry’s
top analysts will show you why you should get involved. Learn how leading cinematographers create the best stories using imagination, boldness and even AI (is it a benefit or a threat?). And the best professionals in the field of AR, XR and virtual reality will show their exciting work for some of the world’s most highly renowned brands without leaving the comfort of the virtual studio. Vapor trail leads to rental panel upgrade
The Vapor Series LED rental panel is designed for long-term reliability and features several improvements on earlier models, thanks to customer feedback. The panels have been redesigned to increase stability and make the set-up and take-down process smoother. The improvements are part of a continued focus by Taylorleds on the mechanics of its rental products to make them uncomplicated, adaptable and mobile for all types of applications. The upgrades take in both the Vapor Shine indoor rental series and Vapor Glare outdoor models, which can be quickly assembled or disassembled by anyone with even limited experience. The latest Vapor Shine panels are thinner and lighter, for easy mounting. They have corner protection tabs to protect the LED panel and modules. The modules magnetically snap into place. This simplifies swapping modules, including on the new Vapor Shine Wave curved frames, which are built with soft modules to create smoother surfaces without ridges between them. Eco-friendly patching and a new challenge
Debuting here at ISE 2024, the Kordz Pro SlimCat Patch Cord BeltPak comprises a multipack strip of perforated, tear-off recyclable paper packs each containing a single patch cord. Each pack can be quickly torn open at one end to extract the patch cord without bending it. The BeltPak comes in multiples of five or 10 patch cords. The 100% recyclable paper packaging of the BeltPak Patch Cords also produces less waste for disposal. James Chen, managing director at Kordz, said: “The foundational aim of our business at Kordz has always been to make integrators’ jobs easier and more profitable. BeltPak is one more way we are delivering on this promise. A simple change in packaging design can make a huge difference to an integrator’s business while meeting the increasing demand for eco-friendly, time-saving and cost-efficient tech solutions.” Kordz is also introducing a number of new connectivity products to its range of professional cabling lines and is hosting its Termination Challenge throughout the show. —anne morris www.kordz.com

The M2S SDK media streaming software development kit is being demonstrated by Macnica throughout the show. In particular, the company is highlighting how the M2S can interface with Unreal Engine – the high-performance real-time technology used widely in gaming, live production and high-bandwidth video networks – through a native plug-in. Suited to developers of flexible IP transport applications, the M2S SDK enables implementation of software-based ST 2110 and IPMX systems on general-purpose servers. This provides a gateway solution for broadcast systems that operate all-IP workflows, whether deployed on-premise or in the cloud, further empowered by Macnica’s ‘multi-gig’ workflow capabilities across IP networks ranging from 1Gb to 100Gb. The M2S SDK is designed as a simple and generic interface for real-time video streams and can be used with a wide variety of NIC cards. —david davies www.macnica.com
