onica is 22 years old and was born in Chihuahua, where she is currently pursuing a degree in Visual Arts. She favors traditional illustration rather than digital but she doesn’t write off experimenting with digitalism. Her most constant technique is watercolors, but she also loves color pencils, oils and Chinese ink. Monica defines her work in three words: simple, direct and feminine. “I always try to create new stuff and to improve my work; I don’t like to get stuck in the same style. I’ve started 2013 with regained strength to work and realize many projects. Many have asked me why I tend to paint eyes and lips. I just like the fact that by observing a set of eyes or lips you can interpret many things. I also like to paint women because it’s easier to experiment with tonality and form. I haven’t been doing illustrations for a long time; I started doing it out of boredom and it has slowly become a very important part of my life”.
