Background ECO-UNESCO is Ireland’s environmental education and youth organisation affiliated to the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations. ECO-UNESCO works with over 10,000 young people annually all across Ireland and delivers a wide range of youth, education and training programmes. ECO-UNESCO’s Youth for Sustainable Development Programme – Global Youth Leaders for Change is an education for sustainable development/ development education programme funded by Irish Aid. ECO-UNESCO seeks to employ a full time co-ordinator to co-ordinate the programme. . Job Title:

Youth for Sustainable Development (YSD) Programme Coordinator

Job purpose:

This is a position of responsibility within the organisation, and applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to take on such responsibility. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing environmental youth organisation.

Key responsibilities:

The YSD Coordinator will have the following responsibilities: Co-ordinate and Implement all elements of the Youth for Sustainable Development – Global Youth Leaders for Change Programme. This includes: Development and Implementation: • Developing, running and overseeing the YSD Global Youth Leaders for Change Youth Peer Education Programmes (Y-PEP) and support programmes. • Developing and implementing the ECO-Sustainability Award for youth and community organisations. • Organising events including: workshops, seminars and other events. • Developing, promoting and implementing training programmes including adult and youth trainings. • Delivering and running the YSD related FETAC accredited training courses including delivery, project support, marking and administration of FETAC courses in Peer Education and Introduction to Sustainable Development. • Researching and writing materials as needed • Developing and delivering identified outreach workshops Promotion: • Promoting ECO-UNESCO’s YSD and development programme through talks and presentations.

Fundraising & Grant Writing • Completing funding applications and reporting including Irish Aid grant schemes. • Identifying additional funding opportunities for ECO-UNESCO’s YSD and development education programme and assisting ECOUNESCO’s response to these. Other • • • • •

Updating all participant information in Salesforce Writing/completing reports on a regular basis Undertaking any other such relevant duties as directed Assisting in any other areas of ECO-UNESCO work Representing ECO-UNESCO on relevant development education bodies.

Location of post:

ECO-UNESCO’S Headquarters @ the Greenhouse, 17 St. Andrew Street, Dublin 2. Some travel around the country may be required.

Time commitment

35 hours a week Flexibility required. Ability to work evenings and weekends essential. Contract – initial 1 year contract (subject to continued funding). May be extended subject to funding.

Personal Specification Qualifications A relevant third level qualification in sustainable development/ education/ geography/ youth/ social science or a related field Experience At least 2 years experience working in a field related to youth work, education; education for sustainable development, development education. Experience in developing and delivering youth, education and training programmes Experience in formal and non-formal education Experience of marketing and promoting education and training courses Experience of liaising with a wide range of agencies related to education and youth work. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of the youth work sector and education system in Ireland Knowledge of education for sustainable development/development education in Ireland.
