“hard times, the 1930’s” the gullfuglen collection tells the tale of an important time in norwegian industrial history, when hydro began producing artificial fertilizer, and the factory worker became the industry’s “golden bird”

Industrial Gold The year was 1936 and Marie could not be happier! She remembered oh so well the first time she set eyes on the rugged factory worker. Albert worked for Hydro sewing fertilizer sacks. Not only was he a very handsome man, but it was widely known amongst the local women that the factory workers earned a generous wage. And after four comfortable months together Albert finally proposed. Marie had shot the “Golden bird”! NOTE: In Norwegian “To shoot the golden bird” means “To strike it lucky!” Gullfuglen means The Golden Bird.

this sensual bed linen is based on erotic norwegian folklore. the design tells the story of how adam & eve discovered lovemaking, thus creating the creatures of the faerie kingdom.

“bed linen that speaks the language of love”

ve stood by Adam’s side with her bosom full of freshly washed clothes. “Hang those here”, said Adam cheekily showing her his long rod. Startled, Eve tumbled into the soft bundle of clothes. Just as Adam bent down to help Eve back onto her feet, a wasp stung him right on his behind, and forward he shot, planting his rod into Eve’s hole. “Ooh, marvelous!” shrieked Eve delighted, “let us catch the wasp and do it again! If you can bear it my dear?” It soon became very apparent that Adam could bear it. And Eve could most certainly bear Adam! Then one day God came to Adam to check whether he had been fulfilling all his responsibilities. “Why of course!” proclaimed Adam eagerly “every night, and more often than not, during the daytime too!” Adam proudly paraded their most handsome of children

the wasp had bestowed upon them. So beautiful they almost gleamed in the morning sun. “Is this all of them?” enquired God. Blushing as red as a ripened apple, Eve quickly hid away the rest of their children. She was indeed embarrassed by the amount of children they had conceived. But more than that, she was afraid that God may put an end to their wasping. “Yes, this is all!” she replied. And with this God declared, “You are not to be ashamed of that which is created in the act love. And to remember this, from this day on, any children which have not been shown today, will live hidden forever,” And ever since that day, trolls and faeries have lived in abundance below the forest floor, to remind us that love of any kind can brave the light of day as well as the darkness of the night...
