“A person without education is like a child without mother or a bowl of soup without a spoon”, says a young Roma of 25 years from Baltesti, Prahova district in the volume Roma.Life Stories, launched on Friday, the 4th of July 2008 by Soros Foundation Romania. The book describes - in the first part- the customs and the lifestyle of Roma people from four different communities: “ursarii” from Baltesti (Prahova), “caldararii” from Veresti (Suceava) and the mixed communities from Geoagiu (Hunedoara) and Mimiu (Prahova). Sometimes the teachers were the ones who drove the Roma children to continue studies, other times it was the family, as results from the successful stories presented in the second part of the book.
