Message from the President of FUSALMO As educators and pastors, we live the fundamental attitude toward youth: trust and hope in themselves; so we recognize in them the protagonists of their own education and evangelization. We are committed to the necessary accompaniment, support and evaluation - face the challenges and even also failures that may arise. At the annual experience of the Foundation we intensiďŹ ed hope on the capabilities and opportunities for young people to be protagonists of their own lives. The Salesian charism, the charism of Don Bosco shows the importance of seeking and cultivate this conďŹ dence that is rooted in the obstinate awareness that each person has sown the seeds of goodness and generosity, but sometimes their way of life shows exactly the opposite. Don Bosco acted in perfect ďŹ delity to the words of St. Paul who, singing the praises of Abraham, paradigmatic model of faith, says that "he believed, hoping against hope, and so became the father of many nations, as he he had promised: So shall thy seed be". These 15 years of life of FUSALMO have been placing increasingly, a life under the sign of faith, hope and charity. This is the adventure we experience while we becoming clearer today our pastoral journey with Jesus, with the Church and with young people. Foundation members thank you for being part of this adventure of faith. Thank you for allowing us to serve our youth, thanks to educators who strive to follow in the footsteps of Don Bosco. Thanks to friends of the work, those who support us with opportunities consulting work, to collaborate and continue to believe in our youth as threatened in many ways.

God bless you very much, greetings in Don Bosco Pbr. Alfonso Evertsz, President of FUSALMO

"In the Don Bosco Youth Integral Program I have learned many things that have helped me grow in my daily life, one of them is in computing. The first time we came here, we entered to the computer center and the teacher started to say, "Turn on the computer, we will work" and I knew nothing, nor as turn it on. Now I know how to use a computer, install software and make them work faster and that is thanks to Don Bosco’s Youth Integral Program "

PARTICIPATION AND YOUTH LEADERSHIP

PARTICIPATION AND YOUTH LEADERSHIP Participation and Youth Leadership Area is composed by the Sports Schools, Arts schools, Youth Network and Festive Oratory. Young people improve their self-esteem and discover themselves, develop skills and knowledge through a wide range of sports, cultural activities and leadership. Construct family ties and improve their spiritual dimension, which favors the construction of their life projects. They find friendship, affection and guidance in educators. We consolidated FUSALMO’s Cultural Center as an educational offer including Dance and Ballet, Chamber Orchestra, Andino Musical Group, Chillout Music Group, Taekwondo and Painting. During 2015 we also developed agreements with Federations and Sports Clubs for promotion of sports schools where we offer football, basketball, skating, cycling plus taekwondo, aerobics, among others. We also work with schools in Art and Youth Leadership and continued developing initiatives for the prevention of violence with the Youth Network. In 2015 we developed a comprehensive intervention model to generate participation and involvement of young people and their families. Volunteer programs were implemented to train instructors or youth managers to promote values through their sporting or artistic disciplines. The initiatives from Youth Network are consolidated as educational and cultural offerings for the prevention of violence, through youth projects such as: Hip Hop GCX Old New Group, Theater Group, English Volunteering, Graffiti Workshop, creative drawing Workshop. Basketball School was created with support of the National Basketball Federation and we continued working with Rhythmic Gymnastics schools, Aerobics, Skating, Mountaineering Club, Nutritional Club and Football School in which we ended the year with an agreement with the Marte Soyapango Sport Club for its strengthening and development.

“First I want to thank FUSALMO for opening the doors not only to me, but to many more young people in sports an the academic area. Five years ago we went from school to take clases to Don Bosco’s Youth Integral Program, computing, sports among other classes. I remember the last day in the farewell was a "challenge" between teachers and students, the challenge was a mixed football game and it was in that match that two teachers saw me playing soccer and decided to invite me to train. In mid 2012 my first trainings were hard and mixed, that helped me to work with my male peers and learned to live with them. As the years have passed I have earned a place which is very important to me as being the Captain of the FUSALMO Women's Team, that has taught me that although sometimes we fall must always strive to get up and keep moving forward. I hope to continue on this path, if God allows me. Thanks to FUSALMO to allow us practice in the sport center because thanks to that we develop our sport skills and thanks to the teachers who are like our second parents”.

“I still have in mind the first time I entered to FUSALMO facilities, a Saturday afternoon, the first group of Youth Leaders Training Program were developing a cultural activity; my older brother belonged to this group. That day my eyes were shining and listening carefully to the description thar Mrs. Elizabeth Chavez was offering and explaining everythingabout the program. With curiosity, energy, perseverance, and with these huge desire to eat the world, I started the training process at my 13 years old. The program opened my mind to see things in a more analytical way, to discover and develop my ability as an actor of change in society, awaken my creativity, to wonder challenges and achieve them, to reinforce existing values from my home, I add experiences that allowed credited to my personal and professional life, and much of what I am and I managed professionally I owe to FUSALMO through the Youth Leaders Program. The learning methodology was very successful, gradually went voluntarily committing to the program and myself to take my role as a leader. The Central American meetings trainings, camps and forums were the sum of experience that allowed me to develop skills to achieve everything I've done so far. Projects that have developed, thanks to my training within the Foundation were key as three years as a facilitator of workshops on the topic of Positive Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship for the American Embassy and the NGO Save the Children through the University Don Bosco with the Young training Program in the central and western area of the country. We created the Juventurs microenterprise, which was developed as an entrepreneurial idea of six members who are part of the Youth Leadership Program. We work for FUSALMO in camps for other young people who were in other training programs. I created my own company “Passion for Trekking”, under the heading of educational tourism. I have two years working independently, with national tours and tours in Guatemala and Honduras. I have managed small groups and larger groups to 60 people.

This 2016 I'm starting a project in El Congo, Santa Ana. A home workshop where the goal is to develop productivity and entrepreneurship workshops for young people whom for any reason have not continued their studies and are not currently working. Currently, I work as a multimedia technician for the Information Technology and Communications Center (CTIC) at Don Bosco University, an institution in which I am also gettin a degree in Science of Communications. "New Challenges, New Responses," the slogan that marked my life and under which I will continue working to be a change agent in our society and new generations and to reproduce everything I learned in the Youth Leadership Program”.
