Southwest Arts Center Studio

Through community based Art Centers, Fulton County residents receive direct services in the arts. The Arts Centers offer arts instruction for all ages and most disciplines including: visual art exhibitions, summer youth and teen programs, cultural events and performances in the Black Box Theater. In 2001, Fulton County opened its doors to the Southwest Arts Center, the first facility built by Fulton County solely for the arts. Located on a 27-acre campus in the quiet Cascade community, Southwest Arts Center is dedicated to providing quality arts instruction and programs in a positive and creative environment. The facility features classroom space, built specifically for arts instruction, visual art exhibition programming, and staged performances in the Black Box Theater.


The Southwest Arts Center Theater and Gallery is the first facility built by Fulton County solely for the arts and is one of two fine arts galleries in Southwest Fulton County. The Southwest Arts Center Gallery along with the Southwest Arts Center Studio Gallery features professionally curated, juried, and student exhibitions. Annual exhibits include; the Sojourners Quilters Guild, the Middle & High School Juried Art Show and the Teen Academy Annual Student Exhibition. Programming provides a new resource for the residents of South Fulton County The Southwest Arts Center Gallery provides 108 feet of linear wall space and 1,453 square feet to accommodate three dimensional works. The Studio Gallery provides 783 square feet with additional hallway space to accommodate hanging and three dimensional works.


The Performance Center and Gallery, along with the Southwest Arts Center and its dedicated arts educational programming, provides a new resource for the residents of Fulton County. The new facility transforms the current 19,000 square-foot Southwest Arts Center Studio into 42,000 square-foot vibrant cultural campus nestled in Southwest Atlanta. The theater allows the Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture the opportunity to significantly increase its range of offerings to include; expanded exhibition programming, staged performances, and theatrical partnerships with professional companies. Space Breakdown Total Theater and Gallery area: 23,500 square feet Outdoor Plaza & Green Space: 10,000 square feet Total gallery space: 1300 square feet Studio facilities: 19,000 square feet Special Features - Commissioned mural by acclaimed artist Louis Delsarte, located in the lobby of the theater - Box office and concession area - Special exhibition gallery space - A Studio Education center, featuring classrooms for master classes and workshops for students and families - 375-seat auditorium and theater, with standing room for 20 and including a wheelchair capacity of 8 Performance Support Facilities - The theater boasts a stage with rigging, lighting and fly loft, scene construction shop, costume shop, orchestra pit, art gallery, dressing rooms, a green room, administrative offices, and storage.
