.XXX — LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

.XXX — LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

However, the aftermath of that decision seems to have created more confusion and less strategic certainty than the earlier period when nobody knew if it was going to ever get approved. Now that .XXX does exist, most webmasters seem totally unsure about whether they should love it or leave it alone completely.

The .XXX saga seemed to reach a final conclusion on March 17th 2011 when ICANN decided to approve the top level domain (TLD) extension after many years and millions of dollars of effort on the part of ICM Registry.

6

A few very high profile companies have already expressed a staunch anti-XXX sentiment. That includes the CEOs of leading companies from all facets of the adult entertainment industry who banded together to take part in the video parody published by DotxxxOpposition.com during the run-up to the ICANN decision. The parody style video satires the efforts of ICM Registry and stars Larry Flynt (Huster CEO), Allison Vivas (PinkVisual CEO), John Stagliano (Evil Angel CEO), Joanna Angel (BurningAngel.com), Ron Cadwell (CCBill CEO), Peter Acworth (Kink CEO), Mitch Farber (Netbilling CEO), and a host of other adult industry leaders. The film was written directed and produced by Wasteland.com CEO Colin Rowntree. Now these major companies are in an interesting position where they can forego purchasing .xxx domains or hypocritically reverse their very public positions to become active in a potentially new market,

7

.XXX — LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

.XXX — LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

As the floodgates open and giant corporations move into the TLD marketplace, the stakes may become even higher at a frantic pace. Media and technology savvy giants like Disney, Apple, Google and others seem to be likely buyers for a variety of extensions. Kids.com is already owned and purchasing the entire .kids TLD may actually turn out to be cheaper for a company like Disney than wrestling a single .com away from its current owner. Some of these issues were raised during the .XXX approval debate where opponents continually pointed out that having the new TLD would muddy the waters and potentially dilute established .com brand names. Now as ICANN opens the flood gates on all TLDs similar concerns exist for some of the largest companies in the world. Companies that have already invested millions of dollars in a .com domain name and developed it for their brand, like Bank of America’s purchase of Loans.com are now faced with the prospect of a competitor launching the entire .loans TLD for less than the single name cost them initially.

8

Meanwhile, it has become public knowledge that a large set of (33) of the most prominent .XXX domains were sold as a single package prior to the decision by ICANN to approve the new TLD. Domains including: amateur.xxx, amateurs.xxx, anal.xxx, asian.xxx, asians.xxx, bollywood.xxx, book.xxx, celeb.xxx, celebs.xxx, chat.xxx, dating.xxx, free.xxx, gratis.xxx, hardcore.xxx, hot.xxx, indian.xxx, latin.xxx, lesbian.xxx, lesbians.xxx, live.xxx, milf.xxx, milfs.xxx, oral.xxx, porno.xxx, pornos.xxx, pussies.xxx, pussy.xxx, sexe.xxx, sexo.xxx, sexy.xxx, video.xxx, videos.xxx, webcam.xxx were all purchased in a 7 figure deal by visionary domainer Frank Schilling of Name Administration (namedia.com).

Two names in the set are particularly ironic in light of other recent news. indian.xxx and bollywood.xxx seem to suggest a viewpoint that believes the .xxx adult market in India is destined to be a big one, however according to a report published by The Economic Times: “India along with many other countries from the Middle East and Indonesia opposed the grant of the domain in the first place, and we would proceed to block the whole domain, as it goes against the IT Act and Indian laws,” said a senior official at the ministry of IT. “Though some people have said that segregation is better, and some countries allow it. But for other nations transmission and direct distribution of such content goes against their moral and culture.”

The deal took place before ICANN made it’s decision and rumors suggest the actual price was $1,500,000 which is was very large gamble put in play, considering the fact that if ICANN had denied the new TLD the money would have gotten NAmedia nothing but a list of non-existent domains written on a piece of paper. Even now that the deal has gone through, the eventual value of these domains may never exceed their purchase price. At 1.5 Million for the set of 33, they paid an average of $45,454 per domain. While names like Webcam.xxx and Dating.xxx may be poised to make large profits - others in the set seem destined to be plagued by the same piracy and free content issues that have marginalized many formerly successful .com adult sites already.

Meanwhile, ICANN has subsequently decided that .XXX may be the first of what appears to be many new TLDs available for use by webmasters in the new year. Their policy decision opens the door for mainstream companies to pursue new TLDs like .kids, .music, .games and any other name imaginable while also opening the door to a much faster and cheaper approval process for adult companies seeking to obtain the rights to .porn, .sex and other potentially competing extensions. That creates an interesting juxtaposition, in which ICM Registry, who fought so tirelessly to get .XXX approved may now find themselves having to quickly reverse course in an attempt to argue new competing extensions should be delayed or denied.

WOULD YOU HIT IT? | SPOOKYCASH.COM

Every day is Halloween at Blue Blood's SpookyCash.com, but this year we selected delectable deathrocker Razor Candi as our highlighted babe for the spookiest season. For those who follow the alternative publishing scene, Razor Candi is one of the most celebrated magazine covergirls. Appropriately enough, she actually lives in Transylvania. Here is a tale of her adventures there from inside the members area: “While attending a pretty dull concert here inTransylvania I got distracted by my partner's liberty spikes, since you all probably know I have a weak spot for punk boys. Reading each others minds we crept off to the bathroom. Locked in a small 5ft x 5ft stall I managed bend over and I let him do me doggystyle. To this day we are not sure if anyone heard us but if they did they probably couldn't resist jerking off to the sound of chains on the ceramic, skin slapping against skin and the howls of ecstasy. Every October, the girls of GothicSluts, BarelyEvil, etc. go above and beyond to destroy more pumpkins and spiderwebs and other Halloween decorations than seems humanly possible. Webmasters can promote this content via FHG, hosted blog, fully hosted TGP, banners, and affiliate coded RSS at SpookyCash.com. Happy Halloween, everyone! Love, Amelia G
