MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

This year we started a mentorship program, which focuses on granting scholarships for students to continue with their studies. Several professionals close to Fundaciรณn FRUKTUS wrere trained on the mentorship methodology that will be used throughout the program. This training program included topics such as: leadership, assertive communication, active listenting, emotional intelligence and different applicable tools to the mentorship methodology. The training was given by the psychologist, entrepreneur and vicepresident of FRUKTUS, Cynthia Castro, who has more than 9 years of experience in sustainable human development strategies and gender equality, Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, has been a consultant and lecturer for UN WOMEN, ILO, World Economic Forum, TEDx among others.

Currently the mentors meet up with the assigned students once a month, in order to keep a better follow-up of each student. This way they have a better understanding of the student´s current situation and in what areas they need support to succesfully finish the school year.

FINANCIAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS FOR PIÑERA PARISMINA Sowing Opportunities, Harvesting Wellness, is a program aimed at developing projects for the benefit of employees at Piñera Parismina S.A., one of our sponsoring companies. Financial health workshops are developed for employees as part of this initiative where they learn how to reduce their expenses, take care of the income they receive, how to save on different consumption and family expenses, make their budget, among other issues. At the end the atendees will be able to make a family budget, which is intended for the families to save in an organized manner and control expenses according to the income received. The company has also set up a Financial Office, to attend cases of those employees who wish to receive personalized financial advice on how to readapt debts they have, on interest rates on their loans or cards, how to save, among other issues. This program is thanks to Piñera´s Parismina S.A. support and their interest in improving their employees quality of life.

THEORETICAL COURSE ON ROAD SAFETY

Motorcycles represent an important mean of transportation for the inhabitants of Duacarí. A census was conducted to Piñera Parismina´s employees and concluded that the majority travel to their workplace in motorcycle. However many of them lack a driver´s license. For this reason, FRUKTUS hired a private company to teach the theoretical course on road safety at the farm facilities. This would make it easier for the employees to receive the lessons and book the appointments to take the exam at the COSEVI office in Guapiles. Currently the 30 collaborators who finished the course are waiting for the dates to take the exam.

IMPULSA - T PROGRAM FRUKTUS - YOUNG PERSON COUNCIL

Currently, living in such a globalized and competitive world, future professionals must work on developing soft skills. These personal attributes help people to interact effectively with others by facilitating communication and teamwork. For this reason, we have coordinated with the Young Person Council for several young people in the communities of Guacimo and Pococí to take a leadership program called Impulsa-T. This program allows us to work with them through different dynamics to strengthen their communication and teamwork skills The workshops were taught at three strategic points that facilitate access to young participants from different communities. These places were the Training Room at Finca Guadalupe (Piñera Parismina), the Liceo Rural Línea Vieja and the Carambola School. Three different workshops were developed, which were the following: 1. “I Lead because I Participate or I Participate because I Lead” They were given information about the Law of the Young Person, participation, leadership, organization, teamwork and how to become young people with impact. We worked with 4 different groups on March 10, April 13 and 14.

2. “From the Saying to the Fact I Participate for My Rights” On this ocassion the addressed themes were the History of Human Rights worldwide, the rights of young people in our country, techniques to promote equality and inclusion as an agent of change. We worked 4 different groups on April 7, 27 and 28. 3. “Empower yourself” This was a workshop on social relations in adolescence, equality in relationships, healthy relationships, self-esteem and life projects. It was held on June 8, 9 and 23.

We are extremely grateful to the Young Person Council Central Offices, for accepting our request and facilitating these workshops. We hope to carry out future joint actions for the youth´s welfare of the rural communities of Guacimo and Pococí. In total, 125 young people were trained and all of them actively participated and felt motivated after the workshops. Soon we will have more workshops, so we invite you to come to the FRUKTUS Foundation and register.
