Opportunities may exist based upon Federal Work-Study eligibility. Students eligible for work-study who participate in Read to Succeed/Way 2 Go Maryland can earn much more! To find out if you are eligible for Federal work-study, visit the Financial Aid Office.
AmeriCorps V.O.I.C.E. Volunteer Clearinghouse
The A STAR! AmeriCorps V.O.I.C.E. operates a volunteer clearinghouse for FSU students, faculty and staff. The V.O.I.C.E. program serves as a liaison to community organizations and posts the most current volunteer opportunities available to the FSU community. To serve or learn more, contact A STAR! ECHOSTARS / RisingSTARS ECHOSTARS is a first year living-learning-serving experience for 75 students who commit to serving 300 hours of direct service with the opportunity to earn up to $1,195 in scholarships from the AmeriCorps program and Frostburg State University. RisingSTARS is primarily a sophomore-based program with a focus on service, mentoring and academic engagement. Members serve 300 hours of direct service and earn $1,195. Read to Succeed Mentors Read to Succeed is an A STAR! AmeriCorps Program serving the regional youth in grades K-8 for literacy. All mentors are trained and placed on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact the Office of Civic Engagement at 301.687.4210.

CES offers employment and intern opportunities for Frostburg State University students. The CES Student Production Team works hard behind the scenes and plays an integral role in bringing each series event to life. CES employment is a great addition to any student’s resumé. Students with a valid driver’s license and no points on their record are eligible to become state certified van drivers for programs on campus. Pay is minimum wage. The following programs are currently hiring Van Drivers: ECHOSTARS Van drivers are needed throughout the week and on weekends to drive volunteers to their service sites. Times vary and shifts are flexible. To become a van driver for the ECHOSTARS program, please contact the Office of Civic Engagement at 301.687.4210. SafeRide Van drivers are needed for the Student Government’s Safe Ride program. Shifts include Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30 pm – 2:30 am.
