Located on the western slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains near the small cowboy town of DeBeque, the Ranch sits on nearly 400-square miles of deeded and permitted lands that have mountain forests, grasslands, a spring creek and alpine mesas. This is perfect habitat for trophy elk, mule deer, black bears and mountain lions. The High Lonesome Ranch also offers one of the West’s finest wingshooting programs for pheasant, chukar and quail shot over well-trained dogs. Guests can enjoy exceptional fly fishing for five species of trout, sporting clays courses and dude ranch experiences. Both log buildings are from an authentic pioneer homestead. Staff members make it a personal quest to help guests achieve their hopes of harvesting the ultimate trophy. Seasoned guides help plan each hunt and support the hunter in the field. This is an exclusive opportunity to stalk mature mule deer and elk of outstanding antler proportions. The High Lonesome Ranch has been supporting healthy herds through restored and enhanced habitats for decades. In its ongoing effort to provide the best hunting experience, The High Lonesome Ranch allows the harvest of only mature trophy elk and mule deer, creating hunts filled with anticipation and fulfilled expectations. Trophy elk and trophy mule deer tags are very difficult to obtain at The Ranch; call early if interested. Guests are asked to meet a minimum antler requirement of 325” class bulls, and there are cow elk tags available at a reasonable cost. Management mule deer tags are also available. With a total guest capacity of about 60, there are a variety of multi-bedroom cabins, as well as the Castle Rock safari-style tent experience for up to 10 guests. Most hunters stay in one of the well-appointed outpost cabins. The High Ranch offers the most remote wilderness hunt experience. n
