Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, The term “bucket list” has become trendy. This particular Beck departure to Villa Maria Lodge in March 2020 is an honest-to-goodness bucket list trip. Those searching for the largest sea-run brown trout in the world covet a single rod at Villa Maria, which is sold out to capacity annually. An intact week with five open rods is unheard of. But Barry and Cathy Beck will host five anglers March 13-20, offering single rooms for each guest and private access to the lower reaches of the fabled Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Since their introduction into the Rio Grande in the 1960s, brown trout are one of the world’s greatest angling success stories. Needing more sustenance, the fish adapted and swam from the fresh water into the cold southernmost reaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Consuming the prolific biomass of the ocean, the trout grew to immense size and now hold the great honor of being the largest sea-run brown trout worldwide. Unlike many anadromous fish, the searun brown trout of the Rio Grande migrate between the fresh water and sea many times during their life increasing the population and size of the fish. Villa Maria is the pinnacle fishery of sea-run brown trout on both two handed and single handed rods, angler’s preference. The Rio Grande is a moderate-size river and relatively short in distance, running from Chilean Tierra del Fuego through Argentina. Of all the lodges in Tierra del Fuego, Villa Maria is the closest to the river and the nearest to where the river meets the sea, thus ensuring that each and every fish coming into the system must pass through her waters on its way to the upper spawning grounds. Sincerely,

What to Expect • Fish for the largest brown trout species on the private access waters of the world’s premier sea-run brown trout fishery. Enjoy the guidance of Cathy and Barry Beck in a small-group setting of just five guests. • Take advantage of Villa Maria’s close proximity to the mouth of the Rio Grande, offering unparalleled opportunities with both single and double handed rods. • Relish Villa Maria’s many amenities: single rooms for each angler (or shared if preferred), private bath, a world renowned chef, tenured guides, and a coveted Argentine wine list.

About the Lodge Villa Maria Lodge: Villa Maria Lodge offers six bedrooms each with en suite bath for just six guests weekly in a small, intimate venue. Each day, anglers relish traditional Argentine waterfront meals and a siesta at the River House, perched high on a bluff affording a stunning view of the fabled Rio Grande.
