Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, We are excited to return to Ireland in 2017. Our inaugural hosted departure last season was a delight. Maybe because we were pleasantly surprised to find fish in the 12-20 inch range contently feeding on Blue Winged Olives and Caddis. The fishing program in Clonmel is quite different as we stay in a lovely country hotel and are delivered by private coach to Andrew Ryan’s fly shop each morning to meet our guides. In the evening, we are delivered back to the hotel. It’s a wonderful three days of fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the highly saturated green rolling hills and valleys of eastern Ireland. The small to medium size chalk streams are fairly easy to wade and navigate. After Clonmel, we are transferred again by private coach across the country taking the scenic coastal route to the Ballynahinch Castle for three days of salmon fishing on the lovely Owenmore River, which flows through the castle estate. The castle, built in 1756 and once the home of Grace O’Malley, pirate queen of Connaught and her husband, “Humanity Dick Martin,” has been completely renovated and is now a world-renowned hotel and sporting estate. No waders needed here as footbridges and stiles on all the beats add to the ease of access. It’s not a big river, and anglers cast from “angling piers” along the river. The overall experience is quite civilized and there is nothing better than meeting in the pub with the guides for a pint after fishing. There is something truly special about the “Emerald Isle.” The country is incredibly beautiful, complemented with warm Irish hospitality, great fisheries, a group of ghillies who are genuine characters and wonderful meals and accommodations waiting for us each evening. This is an excellent destination for non-anglers as well. We look forward to sharing Ireland with you on our trip. Sincerely,
Barry & Cathy Beck
What to Expect
• Private access fisheries for wild brown trout with dries and light fly rods in south-central Ireland, followed by Atlantic salmon on the West Coast. • The accommodations are wonderful by international standards, staying in the Hotel Minella, followed by Ballynahinch Castle. We end the trip at a 5-star hotel in Dublin • This trip is excellent for non-anglers as they can take a stroll through the historic streets of Ireland on daily sightseeing tours with a private driver and coach.

Monday, June 26 - Wednesday, June 28
Three full days of guided fly fishing at Ballynahinch. The catchment drains an area of 68 square miles and is a diverse system of intercalated loughs and rivers, drained by the Ballynahinch River. This majestic river with fishing rights owned exclusively by the Ballynahinch Estate winds its way underneath the castle for 3 kilometers until it reaches the wild Atlantic Ocean at Bertraghboy Bay. First and foremost, Ballynahinch is an Atlantic salmon fishery. The larger spring salmon average approximately 10 pounds. As we move into the summer months, the fishing is at its best. There are still fresh salmon and grillse. By international standards, the grillse are quite large—averaging six to seven pounds and up to nine pounds. There is also good sea trout fishing—particularly from early June until the end of July. Trout fishing can also be arranged. This area of Ireland is widely considered the prettiest in the country! Non-fishers will enjoy the coastal reaches of Connemara, the National Park, the Wild Atlantic Way up into County Donegal, and a wide range of other activities. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Lunches are provided and dinner will be served at the hotel.
Thursday, June 29
Following breakfast, check-out of Ballynahinch Castle. The group will be transferred due east across Ireland to Dublin. Driving time: 3 hour, 30 minutes. On arrival in Dublin, we will arrange a nice lunch. Following the meal, the group will be taken on a walking city sightseeing tour. During this time, your luggage will be dropped off at the hotel and waiting for your arrival. The group will check-in at the Merrion Hotel Dublin, one of our favorite properties in the city. The Merrion, located in the heart of Dublin city center, is the capital’s most luxurious five star hotel. An impeccable restoration of four Georgian townhouses, this 142-bedroom and suite hotel is as welcoming as it is stylish. This five star luxury hotel is found in the heart of Georgian Dublin, a few minutes’ walk from galleries, museums, pubs, restaurants and the shops of Grafton Street. We have confirmed one night of accommodations in the Garden Wing. The balance of the afternoon and evening will be at leisure. We will arrange a farewell dinner at the hotel.
