De-classified wines are the excess production from famous Châteaux and are exclusively from their vineyards and cellars. They are made in exactly the same way as the Grand Vin but do not fit the winemakers’ exact formula for the composition of the Grand Vin. They are also often made from a blend of grapes from the older and younger vines so, in terms of style, sit somewhere between the Grand Vin and their second wines.

From the vineyards of Château Gruaud Larose, the original ‘Super Second Growth’ and the excellent 2008 vintage. This is forward, ripe Claret of the highest quality. Drink 2013-2020
