When you move into your residence hall, you'll be greeted by your Resident Assistant, or RA! RAs are part of the Residence Life team here at Friends, and want to help make your transition to the Friends community a smooth one Your RA is excited to meet you!
RAs help students transition into life at college, and navigate the new environment. You can find RAs on duty every night in the main office, or planning programs around the hall for residents to enjoy They're there to answer questions, assist with problems, and play a role in helping keep our residence halls and campus safe.
RAs host programs each month, create bulletin boards to keep students informed, and have a weekly duty night to be available to residents for questions, problems, or just to hang out!
RAs are chosen through a three-part application process. Once hired, they complete an online course that prepares them for fall training The team is trained for two weeks leading up to the start of fall classes, and attend lectures pertaining to mental health, fire and weather safety, campus resources, and more.
Let's just say you won't be bored! Our RAs host monthly programs in each Residence Hall focusing on different themes and activities Programs range from cooking demonstrations, water baseball, and even battling other students in pillow jousting! You might even get to smash a pie in an RA's face! There's a wide range of programs throughout campus to keep students engaged in community.
