The Tony Stewart Foundation and Friends of Ferdinand, Inc. (FFI) is pleased to present Rockin’ the Racehorse – a special evening of entertainment, great food and fun to be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Palomino Ballroom in Zionsville, Indiana. Proceeds from the event will support FFI’s efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home retiring racehorses. During the opening cocktail reception guests can mingle and place their bids on unique items available at the silent auction including an autographed guitar by rock legend John Mellencamp and halters worn by Thoroughbred racing greats with engraved gold name plates. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to meet and visit with some of our rescued horses who will also be attending the event. Indianapolis radio personality, Jimmy “Mad Dog” Matis will be the event’s emcee and will be sure to entertain and bring a smile to everyone’s face. Following dinner is the highlight of the evening. Guests will be treated to a special concert by critically acclaimed singer songwriter Jennie DeVoe, who has opened for such greats as Ray Charles, Joe Cocker and Bonnie Raitt. FFI is honored to have Ms. DeVoe not only as the event’s showcase entertainment, but also as a member of our Advisory Board. Because we wish for this event to create an intimate, special atmosphere for our guests, we are planning for no more than 120 attendees. Target attendees include: Horse racing enthusiasts - fans, owners, trainers and industry suppliers Horse owners, trainers of various riding disciplines (i.e. dressage, western, hunter/jumper, etc.) Affluent individuals with a propensity for social responsibility and an affinity to the FFI cause “Jennie DeVoe never fails to deliver intense, deeply personal songs that draw you into her impassioned world. One part power with two parts raw emotion, Jennie is the perfect blend of spirit, style and originality.” - Klipsch Audio

Founded in 2005, Friends of Ferdinand, Inc. is an Indianapolis based, 501(c)(3) registered notfor-profit. We provide options for an eminent equine welfare need – what to do with the unwanted race horse. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home these ex-racers so that they may find safe, productive, new lives after the finish line. Without our efforts, these horses are at high risk of neglect, abuse, or slaughter. To achieve our mission, we work with horse racing owners and trainers to identify and obtain horses that are nearing the end of their race careers. Once a horse is accepted into our program its mental, physical and emotion needs are addressed. We develop and implement a customized training and rehabilitation program that lasts a minimum of 60 days for each horse. During this time, a professional trainer works with the horse to provide it with the core skills that will enable it to flourish in a second career. Each horse is unique and as such has its individual abilities and desires for a second career. Some are outstanding dressage, hunter/jumper, Western trail riding or endurance prospects. Others are best suited to be a friend and pleasure riding companion. All are deserving of forever, loving homes and it is our goal to find such a match for each of our horses. Since our inception, we have placed nearly 300 horses into new homes through our adoption and track-listing programs. Our accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. We are honored to have the support of the Indiana horse racing industry, Hoosier Park and Casino and Indiana Downs. Our largest funders include The Tony Stewart Foundation, Thoroughbred Charities of America, BlueHorse Charities and After the Finish Line. FFI is a volunteer based organization and 92% of every dollar donated goes toward funding programs and services that directly benefit the horses. More information about FFI is available at www.friendsofferdinand.org.

FFI’s name is in recognition of the champion Thoroughbred race horse, Ferdinand. After winning the Kentucky Derby and Breeder’s Cup, earning over $3.7M and being named 1987 Horse of the Year, Ferdinand was retired to stud in Japan in 1989. Unfortunately his foals did not perform well on the track and in 2002, this king of Thoroughbred racing was led to slaughter for human consumption. Ferdinand winning the 1986 Kentucky Derby
