Depuis l’arrivée sur la terrasse d’un tréteau surmonté d’une planche et de deux platines, la Folie Douce a fait du chemin. Le chanteur Kely et le DJ David D., artistes de la première heure, sont aujourd’hui au cœur d’un show qui peut comprendre jusqu’à huit musiciens dont la plupart évoluent en HF (haute fréquence) au milieu du public. Les instrumentistes, la chanteuse et Kely se mêlent à la foule et peuvent même s’éloigner de la scène pour jouer ou chanter à distance. Mais derrière cette jam-session apparente se cache un vrai travail de programmation : «Cela va du set loundge pendant le déjeuner à des morceaux deep house et électro l’après-midi en fonction de l’humeur du public. La programmation musicale doit être accessible et originale, tandis que la multiplicité des nationalités nous pousse à être très ouverts et réactifs. Pour cela nous travaillons beaucoup en amont, notamment avec David D. qui m’envoie des titres sur lesquels je compose mes chansons. Cela nous a permis de créer un beau répertoire, mais il faut sans cesse essayer de varier, de proposer des choses nouvelles. Il faut surprendre le public.» Cette implication de Kely à la direction artistique – qui va bien au-delà de la programmation musicale mais passe par le choix du matériel, la déco ou le marketing - a permis au concept d’acquérir ses lettres de noblesse. Aujourd’hui, avec le succès grandissant de Folie Douce, Kely exporte le show musical vers de nombreuses destinations. Mais il s’occupe aussi de former l’équipe artistique du nouveau restaurant de Val Thorens, le tout en enchaînant les live quotidiens et quelques performances au Café Face. En résumé, pour Kely, la Folie, c’est à la folie.

But behind this apparent jam session there lies a carefully programmed set. «It goes from the lounge set during lunch to deep house and electro pieces in the afternoon, depending on the mood of the crowd. The music programme must be accessible and original, while the mix of many different nationalities encourages us to be very open and reactive. To achieve that we do a lot of work beforehand, particularly with David D. We constantly have to try to vary things and offer new stuff. You have to keep the public on their toes.» Kely art directs, creates the music programme, chooses the equipment, décor and marketing approach. Today, with the growing success of La Folie Douce, he is exporting his music show to lots of other destinations, busy training the team of artists for the new restaurant in Val Thorens, and continuing to put on the odd performance at the Café Face. In short, for Kely, La Folie is pure madness.
