I was recently introduced to a webpage selling Laminine, also known as 'The Happy Pill'. In the past I was always curious about new drugs like this one, quick fix methods that get rid of everything bad in your life, simply by swallowing a pill a day. Of course they are all have different claims, and different ingredients but the bottom line is - none of them work. The answer is always the same, there is no substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Mix a balanced diet, rich in fresh fruits and vegetables with exercise and mental well being and you won't ever have to worry about which magic pill is right for you. Let's take a closer look at Laminine. This magic pill is supposed to: 1. Reduce Signs of Aging 2. Build Collagen for Healthier Skin 3. Stimulate Natural DHEA & Testosterone 4. Increase in Physical, Mental & Emotional Strength 5. Reduce Stress 6. Promote more Restful Sleep 7. Quicker Recovery & Increased Muscle Tone 8. Elevate Serotonin Levels - Be Happy! 9. Decrease Pain 10. Increase Clarity and Alertness 11. Improve Stamina & Energy 12. Increase Libido 13. Aid in Brain Function Wow, pretty much everything we all want more of. Looks like this is the right pill for everyone, right? Wrong! How is it supposed to do all these amazing things? First of all, it says that it contains all the 22 amino acids. OK, great. Eat a balanced diet and you'll have no problem getting all of your amino acids. They aren't rare or hard to find. In fact quinoa (keen-wa) is a grain that has a complete set of protein (all 22 amino acids in a single food). It's close to impossible for anyone eating a normal diet to be deficient in amino acids. If you survive on pizza and breadsticks, you might develop a deficiency. But if that's the case, you're looking at much bigger problems. The next claim to fame is that it contains this other magic ingredient called FGF (fibroblast growth factor). This is a hormone that they extract from a fertilized avian (bird) egg on the 9th day of incubation. There is some weird logic that because FGF is used by the embryo, that it is life giving, and has some beneficial qualities that we humans can now exploit. Does anyone else see holes in this logic? They boast that FGF isn't found anywhere in our diets, and this is supposed to be a good thing? If nature didn't put it into our food, we probably aren't supposed to be eating it. FGF, as with other growth hormones are not good for our health. Growth hormones make cells grow, they are used by a species mainly before birth and shortly after birth, the stages of life when growth is the most dramatic. The use of growth hormones during other times (like during our adult

lives) causes overgrowth of different types of cells. This causes major issues, the most popular being cancer. Why would you want to take a pill that causes cancer? My guess is that you wouldn't. I'm not even going to get into the animal rights implications of using fertilized egg embryo's to collect FGF. After watching the sales PowerPoint presentation, I realized that this 'health product' is manufactured by LifePharm. Does that sound like a company that's trying to help you get healthy? Pharmaceutical companies produce drugs, drugs don't help people get better, they mask the symptoms and leave the cause, creating a medicated society that takes pills for their entire lives (sound familiar?). Drug companies have no intention of fixing or curing anyone, they are in the business for profit and profit alone. If there wasn't anything else wrong with this product, it looks like it is also some type of multi-level marketing (Pyramid scheme), where you buy a place in the company when you buy your meds. My recommendation is to stay away from this product, and any others like it. There is only one quick fix to good health, and that is a healthy and balanced lifestyle. If you want to reap the benefits of good health, you must provide your body with what it needs. Fresh whole fruits and vegetables are natures magic foods. Try them!
