Changing to Serve You Better Fresh New Look—Same Great Service

Have you noticed? Your community credit union has had a facelift. Our new logo and look offer a fresh new perspective on what our members have known for a long time: Freedom First is Where People Bank for Good. For years, we’ve worked behind the scenes to develop programs, projects, and partnerships that benefit our members and the community we share. From our nationally recognized grants program and academic scholarships to our Impact Banking products and services, we’re changing our members’ lives every day.

Bank for Good “What a great way to spread some cheer! I received an envelope today from one of my students and doubled it and made a donation to Heifer International in my class’s honor. Thanks!” ~Keri J., facebook

Word of mouth is the best advertising—we’ve grown steadily through the years because time and again our members recommend Freedom First to their families, friends, and coworkers. More than 45,000 people who live and work in the Roanoke and New River Valleys enjoy the benefits of membership every time they visit a branch, log in to online banking, and use one of the thousands of free ATMs in our network. Our new branding campaign introduces those benefits and more to people who don’t already know about us. And just like the $5 share that opened your first Credit Union account, we’re spreading the word through our “blue envelope” campaign that a small amount of money can go a long way. So as you see blue envelopes changing hands around town and you take a look at the “Bank for Good” page on our website, ask yourself, “how good am I with money?” As always, Freedom First is here to help you make the most of yours.

“I received $5 in a Freedom First blue envelope from a very nice lady while I was working at the Salem YMCA. It was very sweet and very unexpected. I will definitely pass this on to somebody else!! Thank y’all for everything you do.” ~Alex S., facebook “If you follow one financial institution on twitter, it should be @FreedomFirstCU, because this one is going places.” ~Chris H., twitter

Find Us on the Web We’ve expanded our online presence to be more available to our members anytime, anywhere. /FreedomFirstCU @FreedomFirstCU /FreedomFirst

News From Our Branches

Annual Member Meeting Thursday, May 9, 2013, 6:30 p.m. Salem Civic Center

Towers Branch Relocation We’ve outgrown the small space we’ve been in at Towers for 10 years. In May, we’ll move a few doors down to a much larger space to the left of Fresh Market. The new space has more parking and more privacy for consultations with our Personal Banking Representatives.

Light refreshments following the business meeting.

Just need to use the ATM? We’re moving that too, to a convenient new drive-up kiosk where the old coffee hut currently stands.

Nominating Committee Report The Nominating Committee has nominated five candidates for the five vacancies on the Board of Directors for Freedom First Federal Credit Union. According to Article V, Section 2 of our Bylaws, since the Nominating Committee has returned sufficient nominations for all vacancies, there will be no nominations from the floor at this year’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 9, 2013. Each candidate will officially take office immediately after the Annual Meeting.

West End Groundbreaking We officially began construction on our West End branch following a groundbreaking ceremony in late March. Representatives from Roanoke City, neighborhood groups, local businesses, and the West End Center for Youth joined us in kicking off this exciting revitalization project scheduled to open late this year. Follow us on facebook and twitter for updates on these and other Freedom First projects.
