Uses For Herbs ROSEMARY

To keep mosquitoes away from your porch or other areas where you like to entertain guests, try growing rosemary in close proximity. Mosquitoes do not like rosemary and so they will stay clear of that area. Another great use for rosemary is as a hair rinse. To strengthen your hair and eliminate pesky dandruff, rinse your hair in a cooled solution of boiled rosemary leaves and water.

OREGANO:

The oil of oregano helps to drain sinuses and reduce inflammation, so it is perfect for fighting the common cold. Next time you have a cold, try placing a few drops of oregano oil under your tongue or else put a few drops in a glass of water before drinking it.

PEPPERMINT:

Peppermint is a popular herb used in aromatherapy to sooth headaches and relieve tension. To soothe a pounding head, add 5 to 7 drops of peppermint oil to a small bowl of ice water. Dip a washcloth in the mixture, wring in out, and then apply the washcloth to your forehead for 10 to 15 minutes.

BASIL:

Basil is great for treating acne. For a natural acne treatment solution, simply soak fresh basil leaves in hot water for 20-30 minutes. After the water has cooled, apply the liquid to problem spots using a cotton ball.

PARSLEY:

(716)763-0025 2640 S. Work St. Suite 101 Falconer, NY 14733

Parsley is often added to beauty products because it contains vitamin K, chlorophyll, vitamin C, and other active compounds that help to lighten and tighten skin. It also works great as an anti-inflammatory agent. Next time you have dark circles under your eyes, try spreading crushed parsley on your skin.

MINT:

Although most humans love the smell of fresh mint, mice absolutely hate it. Keep mice away from your home by scattering crushed mint or mint oil around problem areas of your house.

The Empire State Building is topped by a mooring mast for dirigibles. However, only one such ship ever docked there. That took place on September 16, 1931. The idea was later scrapped because of safety concerns.

TONGUE TWISTERS

Classics:

• Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers? Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked? • How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood, as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood. • She sells sea shells by the seashore. Difficult: • Silly Sally swiftly shooed seven silly sheep. The seven silly sheep Silly Sally shooed Shilly-shallied south. These sheep shouldn't sleep in a shack; Sheep should sleep in a shed. • The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick. [According to The Guinness Book of World Records this is the toughest tongue twister - so far.] Easy: • He threw three free throws. • I slit the sheet, the sheet I slit, and on the slitted sheet I sit. • If you notice this notice, you will notice that this notice is not worth noticing. • Nine nice night nurses nursing nicely. • I like New York, unique New York, I like unique New York. • Four fine fresh fish for you. • A proper cup of coffee from a proper copper coffee pot.

DID YOU KNOW BUBBLE WRAP WAS INVENTED BY ACCIDENT?

In 1957 two inventors named Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes were attempting to create a three-dimensional plastic wallpaper. Although the idea was a failure, they found that what they did make could be used as packing material. “Bubble wrap” is a generic trademark owned by Sealed Air Corporation. Sealed Air Corp. was co-founded by Alfred Fielding in 1960.

COCONUTS

Coconuts take about one year to fully ripen, with several coconuts growing together in bunches that ripen at about the same time. Six or seven months after the fruits emerge, the inside of the coconut contains mostly water, which you can harvest and drink. Over the next five or six months, the water converts to the white nut meat lining around the inside of the shell. The coconut should be fully ripe at 12 months after fruits emerge.

Sea glass are pieces of glass that have been buffed and smoothed over time thanks to the constant tumbling action of ocean water and the sandy silt. Sea glass goes by many names, from mermaid’s tears to sea pearls to beach gems. Sea glass is coveted by both amateur and professional collectors. It can be turned into many different pieces of artwork, and some designers specialize in transforming the glass into intricate jewelry. Although dumping trash in the world’s oceans, bays and lakes is never a good idea, sea glass is one representation of how nature can turn something bad into a remarkable treasure. It’s possible to find sea glass in all different shades. However, some colors are harder to find than others. Odyssey Sea Glass ranks deep purple, pink, peach, black, red, orange, and deep yellow as the rarest colors. Brown, green and frosted white sea glass are the easiest colors to find.

We moved into the former Dunkirk School 6 building in March and we had a great community turnout at the time,” said P-TECH Principal Stephen Ruszczyk. “We’ve had some time to settle into our new space and we’d like to welcome prospective students and families to our facility to learn about the opportunities available here at P-TECH.” The WNY P-TECH STEM College & Career Academy offers a project-based, differentiated learning culture with specialized educators working in tandem with higher education, business partners and public school districts. Students work to earn NYS Regents Diplomas and A.A.S. The P-TECH culture within our walls is growing each and every day and the students are really taking ownership of our program,” Mr. Ruszczyk said. “Students recently voted on our new mascot which will be The Atomics and created houses similar to ‘Harry Potter’ which has made for a friendly but competitive atmosphere.” WNY P-TECH STEM College & Career Academy is an up to six-year commitment for students and their school districts. Students remain enrolled in their home districts for the length of the program while completing their Regents Diplomas and associate of applied science degrees. LAST MANNED LIGHTHOUSE

ASK PSYCHIC; MEDIUM; ASTROLOGER How do I know who is most important in my life’s path? How do I attract others into my life who are like minded? Anonymous. Your spirit teachers and spirit guides each step forward now in order to assist you with your above inquiry. They are each filling you and your spiritual path with the white light and their unconditional love in order to assist you with their understanding for the truth which you are currently seeking for your self and your spiritual path. Firstly, your spirit guides and spirit teachers relay, since you are the most important spirit (currently having a Human Experience ) in your life eternally, consider choosing to surround your self with people who understand you ( especially those who understand you, without the need and or necessity to utilize verbalization ). Secondly, your spirit teachers and spirit guides relay, please consider trusting your intuition/your “gut instinct,” especially when, (an)other(s) is/are attempting to convince you of the opposite, within, any given Here and Now Eternal Moment. Thirdly, your spirit guides and spirit teachers relay, at times we need to consider the light within our self in order to utilize this possibility, for our own Highest and Best, versus strictly being there for others. Fourthly, your spirit teachers and spirit guides relay, there may be those, who, find pleasure, ( no matter how small and or expansive ) who enjoy creating a response and or a reaction from (an)other(s)/your self; please consider choosing not to allow this possibility by giving into (an)other(s’) desire(s) via choosing to respond to their intention(s). Fifthly, your spirit guides and spirit teachers relay, please consider choosing to tap into imagination in order to discover your current possibility(ies) which you may be seeking outside of your self from (an)other(s). Sixth, your spirit teachers and spirit guides relay, consider choosing to create your desired vibration, this will allow (an)other(s) of like vibrations to be attracted to your spirit having ( currently having a Human Experience ). Seventh, your spirit guides and spirit teachers relay, you/your spirit, ( even while having a Human Experience ), are the most important beingness to self; this allows you to become the “who,” the Creator ( God of your understanding ), created you to be within Each and Every Here and Now Eternal Moment. Your spirit guides and spirit teachers each step back as it were; they are each filling your spiritual path with their unconditional love and the White Light in order to assist you with their understanding for the truth and understanding which you are currently seeking. Please help us celebrate the second annual "Once A Marauder, Always A Marauder" DHS Homecoming Block Party on September 28th. OPERA HOUSE FOLK-IN-FREDONIA MUSIC SERIES TO START WITH FREE-FOR-ALL

FREDONIA – The Folk-in-Fredonia Music Series at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House will kick off its 2018-19 season with the annual “Free-for-All” on Sun., Sept.23. The concert will begin at 3 p.m.; and admission is FREE. The Free-For-All was started 24 years ago by local folk group The Newton Street Irregulars as a way to help promote the Folk-in-Fredonia Music Series at the Opera House. Although half of The Newton Street Irregulars have since left the area, founding members Dick & Carmen Gilman still invite their musician friends from across the state to join them for this Opera House tradition. From fiddles, banjos and guitars to step-dancing, audience sing-alongs and tall tales, the Free-For-All is an afternoon filled with music, stories, laughter and fun. In addition to the Gilmans, the list of performers for this year’s event includes: guitarist/fiddler/singer Cheryl Ritch; singer Ed Hart with Scottish piper Bob Carlson; parody writer/singer Dr. Rich Milazzo; and Irish storyteller Doug Manly. FOOTBALL ON THANKSGIVING

The National Football League’s Thanksgiving Classic is a series of games played during the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. It has been a regular occurrence since the league’s inception in 1920. Currently, three NFL games are played every Thanksgiving. The first two are hosted by the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys, with one team from each conference playing either team on a rotating basis; a third game, with no fixed opponents, has been played annually since 2006.

A TRIBUTE TO EVELYN FALK

Thrills of back to school With pencils, tablet and old book bag Will she be a good teacher? Or some miserable old hag But I was wrong in many ways She was young and willing to talk Yes, she was a great teacher Her name was Mrs. Evelyn Falk A one room school house teacher Kind and understanding as could be This took place many years ago Way back in year of 1943 A great teacher of the times She taught me how to write poetry All other students thought well of her She sadly passed at 103

I then wrote for her funeral And also read it as well She was a fine understanding teacher Far beyond being swell Fireside Poetry By Old Andy Wingeier Sr.
