She confided that she has asked Carson to make a special keg of Ethiopian for her upcoming birthday. “Taste of the Townâ€? is being put on by the Front Royal Independent Business Alliance (FRIBA), to showcase the types of food and drink from independent eateries, and is scheduled to be held on Main Street, from 7 to 10 p.m. During the week in the cafĂŠ, for breakfast, there’s an oatmeal bar, and the oatmeal is accompanied by a variety of toppings. It’s available from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily including Saturday, then from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays. Their non-oatmeal menu has expanded to include salads, and when Brenda is satisfied with the focaccia recipe she’s working on, they’ll be offering Paninis. People who require Vegan dishes, or have diet-sensitive restrictions, can request them. And, in addition to the four dif-

ferent types of caffeinated and one decaf coffees, their lead roaster Brandon Belland is developing a roasting technique for a new bean. “It’s the only one left that hasn’t been perfected, he’s still toying with it to achieve ‘precision roasting’,â€? noted Mallory. And along with coffee, there are smoothies and many varieties of tea, including several kinds of Kombucha, and tea-related drinks, like Chai. Plans include expanding the number of coffee choices to 11 types of caffeinated and four decaffeinated eventually. Also, since they will be offering Italian sodas soon, new fruit syrups are being developed. The cafĂŠ is also a meeting place for people to come and enjoy live music every Friday and Open Mic Night is held on the last Thursday of every month. The next Open Mic Night will be on September 25 at 6:30 p.m., and the September fifth musical guests are The Dogwood Tails. “Events here have a good turn-out, said Mallory, and listed this among
