We also encourage you to think creatively this year as many of our “non-retail” tenants might have a perfect gift idea for someone on your list as well.

Think about a sitting for your family with one of our great portrait photographers with studios in the Dr Pepper Building – JP Howard Photography and Holland Williams. Or give the gift of fitness with a class at Ignite Cycle or Steel Strength Training. Pamper a spouse with a makeover at The Collective or help someone get well in the body and mind with a consultation from Nova Physical Therapy and Wellness. And finally, help someone you love to serve a tasty holiday meal by gifting them meat, cheese, fish, and spices from Son of a Butcher. Gift cards for lunch or dinner in one of our great restaurants or an ice cream cone from Jeni's are also available.

I’d like to offer a special congratulations to one of our retail tenants for recognition on the national stage. Stone Hollow Farmstead’s Movie Night Trio Popcorn Box was selected as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things this holiday season and their Strawberry Rose Drinking Vinegar was just recognized in Garden & Gun ’s Best of the South awards.

Michael Alfano has been a part of Birmingham’s design community for well over 35 years, having created some of the city’s most visible icons and graphic design for local companies, landmarks and public events. Michael’s award-winning work has extended far beyond the Birmingham area, being featured in national campaigns for clients from many parts of the country –including several Fortune 500 companies.

In 2000, while working as Associate Creative Director at Hodges & Associates at Pepper Place, the agency was tasked with branding, naming and launching The Pepper Place Saturday Market. Michael designed the logo and other campaign launch materials in collaboration with Greg Hodges, which grew into promoting the Market for the next three years.

In 2003, Michael created a series of three sci-fi movie inspired posters for the Market, which met with huge success, garnering Michael local and regional Addy Awards as well as being named Illustrator of the Year. Michael continued creating posters, banners & ads for the Market through 2011. Renewed interest in his poster designs prompted an invitation by the Market for Michael to once again make these vintage posters available to the public both at the Saturday Market and here in the holiday gift guide.
