Susan Fisher

Larry Bryars, Lead Pastor

Director of Discipleship, Small Groups, & Women’s Ministry susan@frazer.church 334-495-6391

The people of Frazer will often say that we are a big church filled with many families. They speak of finding a connection with friends who are growing together in faith through small groups and classes. These are the places where we can share, listen, pray, and grow together. As we grow in faith, we also grow in love for one another. Knowing Jesus at a deeper level is life changing. It is a joy to know that you have a group of people to walk with you on your spiritual journey and to support you through the difficulties of life as well as to celebrate with you in the blessings. This is why we have made small groups a vital part of the Frazer experience. We want you to find God’s plan for your life and to be who God has called you to be. You can find this as you study God’s Word and build relationships in small groups. We cannot emphasize enough how important this is for your spiritual growth.

small groups “Life Happens Better Together, Growth Happens in Groups.”

Why should I join a small group? Connecting to a Small Group is one of the most important ways to connect to Jesus. Gain a greater understanding of the Bible. Rather than simply listening to a lecture, members can discuss in-depth what they are learning and how it applies to their everyday lives. Share life with all of its ups and downs. Life was never meant to be lived alone. Groups form authentic relationships of mutual care and accountability that results in life change. Engage in mission side-by-side. Each of us is gifted by God to serve as the church. When we bring our gifts together, we multiply our ability to impact the world.

What should I expect? 

Small Groups connect 6-12 adults who agree to meet regularly (usually an hour or two once a week) for Bible Study, sharing life, and doing missions together.

Groups are for anyone - Men, Women, or Co-ed, Singles, Married, or both, in any age group.

Groups meet anywhere - in homes, workplaces, coffee shops, or on the church campus.

Groups have a leader who coordinates meetings - The leader’s goal is to help build relationships, facilitate discussion, and not to teach a lesson.

Commitment varies from 6 weeks to a year - Group members may choose to continue meeting, or join a different group. Every group is encouraged to multiply by developing leaders who will go out and form new groups.

How do I join/lead a group? It’s easy! Choose the option that’s best for you: 

If you are being called to lead a group, do it; we’re here for you! We equip our leaders with a brief yet thorough training session, held the third Tuesday every month. You’ll also have a personal mentor who guides you along the way. If God is nudging your heart to lead a small group, contact us today! Are you already involved in a small group that is not listed in this directory? Please contact Frazer’s Discipleship Ministry so you can be included in the next Connections and added to our online directory.

Is Childcare Available? Childcare is available for groups that meet at the church on Tuesday morning and evening, Wednesday morning and evening, and Thursday morning for ages birth-5 years old. Must pre-register: kvanderhey@frazer.church

highlighted studies PARENTING

Quest: Parenting in a Sexualized Culture We truly are on a quest: a long, difficult, but ultimately glorious search for meaning, joy, healing, love and relationship with a faithful, holy God who draws near to us, even when we feel far from Him. All of us are on that journey, and in becoming parents, we have brought our children into that quest with us, whether we know it or not! We are parenting in a new atmosphere and we need new tools and strategies, new levels of encouragement from one another. Parents, you have what it takes to help your kids not just survive in a sexualized and digital age, but to thrive and lead others. Join us on this quest through God's Word of why He created us as sexual beings, how we are to steward this gift, and how we can share His story with our kids.

APOLOGETICS The Mystery of Evil and the Miracle of Life It is ironic that we experience such evil in a society that posits relativism. In this video, Ravi presents a piercing analysis of human wickedness. He traces the origin of evil and particularly the lure of sin before Adam and Eve when Satan made God's truth suspect. Dr. Zacharias examines our hunger for the fulfillment of needs that God alone is big enough to fill and offers a challenge to surrender the human will to Christ's control.

CHRISTIAN LIVING

The Influential Disciple: 5 Dimensions of the Influential Disciple There are two things that are non-negotiable when you read the New Testament: We are first called to be disciples of Jesus and then called to make disciples of Jesus. Many times, though, the idea of discipleship is something weak, shallow or elusive for Christians. However, one of the earliest concepts introduced by Jesus was the idea of His leadership and our "followership." The Influential Disciple, is a deep dive into five specific dimensions of discipleship: 1. Spiritual Formation 2. Personal Wholeness 3. Healthy Relationships 4. Life Mission 5. Economics and Work

MARRIAGE The Mingling of Souls Matt Chandler and The Hub have partnered together to write, film, and produce a brand new, updated curriculum of The Mingling of Souls- a study of love, dating, marriage, intimacy, and redemption based on Song of Solomon! All new from the ground up, your group will be able to enjoy this new video series and study guide in conjunction with Matt Chandler's new book The Mingling of Souls: God's Design for Love, Marriage, Sex & Redemption. In a culture where the foundations of attraction, love, marriage, and sex are rapidly eroding, Matt Chandler offers an eternal, counterintuitive perspective from the biblical book Song of Solomon. Scripture says we're to nurture our hearts above all else- yet we are inundated with songs, movies, and advice that contradicts and cheapens God's design for love and intimacy. 6

Sunday 9:30-10:45AM Sunday Morning | Grades 6-8th Grade-8253 | 9-12th Grade-Great Room) The Student Ministry at Frazer is all about giving Biblical truth that our students can use in their everyday life. We desire to do this intentionally on the level of our students, so weekly we have Middle School Students in one room and High School in another room. This is a vital time for our student ministry as we seek to grow in God's Word and in community with one another. Our Frazer Students' Sunday Mornings consist of breakfast, worship through music, teaching from God's Word, and small group discussion by age and gender.
