ACADEMICS WORKS 2011_2013
The objective of this course was the design, at the urban scale, of a lot within the municipality of Verona, Italy. Fundamentally, my role was to conduct contextual analysis and calculate urban standards. The proper sizing of residential buildings allowed for the majority of the lot to be allocated to public and private green. The entire lot was developed at a lower level respect to the road surface, thus favoring a lower visual impact.
>> open spaces: they promote relations and integration.
>> car free: the lot is entirely
pedestrian and cycle.
HOUSE OF MUSIC_Milano
>> ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN LAB. Analysis and design of a building for the House of Music for the city of Milan. Particular attention was given to the study of systems for reduction of acoustic pollution caused mainly by the intense vehicular traffic. The project required the development of an adequate supply of services and spaces, public and private, for common activities. Additionally, a semi-basement auditorium with a capacity of about 300 people had to be developed. Space on the upper floors was dedicated to classrooms and recording studios. The large area, dedicated to a public green, is composed of a second auditorium, properly soundproofed.
>>BUILDING DESIGN CONSTRUCTION LAB. Design of a multifunctional complex through three levels of planning: preliminary, final, executive, including the economic evaluation of the project. The project was part of an urban area, adjacent to the Lambro Park in Milan. The complex included the construction of student housing, a Bed & Breakfast and private residences. In the vicinity of the access to the complex, and the park, an area to welcome and inform visitors was created.
>> info-point: reception and access to information on park activities.
The first part of the thesis was dedicated to cataloging the most important examples of industrial archeology of the city of Verona, Italy. Through the analysis of the current global and local economic situation it was possible to develop a proposal of functional reuse for some of the buildings cataloged. It was within these places, previously dedicated to production, that I wanted to insert innovative functions related to the world of industry and start-ups. A system of networking between businesses was developed. The purpose of this was to allow for support and advice between tenants. The main accesses are represented as a HUB.
