idea of what I want to create but when I pick my fabrics it can change a little bit. For Spring/Summer I knew that I was doing a collection of loose, flowy, Moroccan inspired pieces, but when I saw the mud-print silks a million other possibilities came to mind, which is really exciting! It’s inspiring to have something in your hand and know exactly what you’re going to create with it. Can you tell us about the Standing Armed woman? I spent a lot of time thinking about this when I started the brand. She’s well educated, she’s well traveled, and she’s at a stable point in her career and in her life. She’s really confident in herself and wants to invest, not only in clothing but also in art— the details are important to her. When I started the line, creating clothing that would let women feel really confident was important. Clothing also shouldn’t be a hassle to wear. The Standing Armed woman doesn’t have time to fuss over clothing but she still wants to look really great. Now that’s a girl we love! How is your personal style philosophy reflected in the brand? It’s all about the confidence piece and the ease piece. I want to look and feel beautiful but I want to do it easily. If I can wake up in the morning and throw on one or two really simple pieces I know I can
