MAKE A BUDGET

This is one of the simplest (and often forgotten) ways to ensure you won’t be left high and dry mid-season with only one or two new pieces to show for it. A lot of people think the “B-word” means sacrificing all the things you love, but figuring out a monthly clothing budget actually allows you to shop guilt-free (within your allotted amount). It also helps you make less impulse purchases that inevitably end up unworn at the back of your closet by forcing you to think more carefully about what you’re buying. You may even choose to carry your September amount over to October, if you have your eye on a more expensive piece.

MAKE A MOOD BOARD

Research the trends and choose the ones that speak most to you. Tear pictures from magazines, scour the net for visuals, or even write yourself a list. This will help you narrow down your fall inspirations and will serve as a guide for making your purchase decisions. With this step you should always listen to your gut!
