General Body PTSA Meeting Minutes |August 18, 2011 | 6:00PM ‐7:00PM The Forest Park High School Orchestra ensemble provided musical inspirations under the leadership of Mr. Sean Terrell, Conductor. The meeting was called to order at 6:15pm by Mrs. Shanda Ross Welcome /Presentation: Mrs. Ross welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced the current PTSA officers. Recognition was given to Office Walter Randall with a presentation of a 32” television in appreciation of his eighteen (plus) years of service as SRO for Forest Park High School. Making a Difference Awards: The recipients of the Making a Difference award are Charlton Bivins, Parent and CCPS Board Member, Trinia Garrett, Parent and CCPS Board Member, Donna Lowry, Community Supporter & 11 Alive Anchor. Congressman David Scott, Congressional Representative 13th District was a recipient and unable to share with us on this night due to a job fair sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus. Panther Pride Award:
Nichelle Roussaw, Student of Forest Park High School was the recipient of the first Panther Pride Award for the month of August 2011. Nichelle was not present to receive this award. Upcoming programs: Mrs. Ross informed us of the following upcoming programs:
Mini Grant‐ provide grants for teachers, club leaders, administrators, staff members, and students. The grants are funded up to $300.00. Panther Prints‐ a weekly newsletter that will be sent electronically to those who have provided their email addresses. Trunk or Treat‐ PTSA fundraiser to include Classic Car Show & Halloween Festival at Forest Park High School. On October 29, 2011 from 1‐7 pm. Reflections‐ An opportunity for our young people to release their talents in the area of Dance Choreography, Photography, Film Production, Musical Composition, Literature, and Visual Arts. The deadline for entries is October 21, 2011.

Principal’s Remarks: Mr. Manning introduced the Faculty and Staff and spoke of the Great Administrative staff he has an opportunity to work with every day. He spoke briefly on AYP and graduation and dropout rate. Mr. Manning states that Morrow High School has made AYP for three (3) years. Mr. Speights mentioned the summer graduates are a factor as it relates to us making AYP. He feels really good about making AYP.
