Reverend Gregory J. Bentley will serve as a member of the Interim Executive Presbyter Search Committee. Session accepted the Presbytery Board of Pension, Benefit Plan to extend spousal and child benefits to plan members’ qualified domestic partners, effective January 1, 2013. Gradye Parsons, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, is encouraging presbyteries to support Christmas International House (CIH). CIH is a ministry of hospitality for international students during Christmas holiday, December 18-January 2 of each year. You can find out more about CIH at www.christmasih.org.

Youth and Children’s Choirs Perform

During its recent annual meeting, the Community Action Partnership (CAP) of Huntsville/Madison and Limestone Counties honored former director Edwin Silsby Hill for his long-time service to the organization and the community. In a special resolution, the CAP Board of Directors recognized Hill for his more than 33 years of leadership devoted to institutional change, aiding the fight against poverty, fostering human development, promoting opportunities for the disadvantaged, and contributing to creating a just society. Included in Hill’s recognition was the rededication of the CAP central office in his honor. Mr. Hill spearheaded the purchase of the building, which currently houses the organization’s central office on Stringfield Road in Huntsville. Mr. Hill retired from the CAP in 2004. The FLCC (Fellowship, Lakeside, Church Street, and Center Grove) youth choir sang three songs for the Center Grove United Methodist revival on Thursday July 26, 2012, leading with the theme song “Awesome God.” The Fellowship Five lifted their voices with the spirit song. The Fellowship youth attending this event were Dana Bone, Maurice Bone, Destine Brown, Destiny Canady, Jeremy Crummie, Kyler Evans, Matthew Gardner, Ryan Gordon, Galik Horton-Burks, Gakari Horton-Burks, Wheeler Ogbu, Brendan Pierre, and Khadeja Wesley. The FLCC children’s choir sang a selection for offering; the Fellowship children participating were Johari Bentley, Miriam Bentley, Eden Joy Craighead, Callyn Williams, and Tyler Williams (pictured above).

We pray for those who mourn Former church member Reaver Brown passed on Monday, July 30, 2012. His funeral was Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Jackson, Mississippi. While at Fellowship, Reaver served as the Sunday School superintendant and a member of the choir.
