Gymnastics & Tumbling A perfect 10!
Gymnastics & Tumbling Co-Ed Flyaways The Fox Valley Park District’s Gymnastics Program provides classes in a recreational atmosphere while maintaining a professional level of instruction. Each class will emphasize coordination, flexibility, balance and self-confidence while introducing students to a variety of skills on the vault, bars, beam and floor.
The Competitive Levels 3 and 4 and Fox Valley Flyaways Team gymnasts have the opportunity to compete in the Illinois Park District Gymnastics Conference for the compulsory and optional levels. New students can be evaluated and placed into the proper ability level before entering the program and then evaluated regularly throughout their training. A minimum age of 6 is required unless given instructor’s approval. Parents are welcome to watch the last week of each session. Call Kristin Balderas at 630-851-8990.
Junior Flyaways
Flyaways Level 1
Children are introduced to all four Olympic events. Gymnasts begin or continue learning forward and backward rolls, working on handstands against the wall and mat as well as away from the wall. They also learn cartwheels, bridges, pullovers and casts on bars; walks and jumps on beam; and springboard and vaulting techniques. No class July 2 and 4. (KB)
Level 1 is a basic level for children who are new to gymnastics. Each class will emphasize coordination, strength, flexibility, balance and self-confidence. Instructors will teach gymnasts a variety of gymnastics skills on the vault, bars, beam and floor. Gymnasts will learn the fundamentals of gymnastics in all areas before moving to Level 2. Skills that are taught include front and back rolls, bridge skills, handstands, cartwheels, proper straight jump vaults, pullovers, back hip circles, candlestick and jumps on beam. A minimum age of 6 years is required unless given instructor’s approval. No class July 2 to 8. (KB)

Gymnastics Hot Shots These programs are designed especially for the gymnasts with more strength and flexibility than the average gymnast their age. Classes focus on proper technique, strength, coordination and more advanced gymnastics and tumbling skills. An instructor’s approval is required to enroll in this program. These gymnasts also have the opportunity to compete with the Flyaways Tumbling Team by signing up for the Competitive Tumbling Class. No class July 4. (KB) Age
