Webelos: Craftsman Clay Whistle

Earn Elective 19: Fishing. Learn the rules of safe fishing and fishing laws, how to use a rod and reel and how to bait a hook. Leaders and parents may accompany the Scout. (LB)

Webelos will learn how to make a useful item out of something other than wood, such as a whistle made from clay. Whistle will be available for pick-up a week after the class. Leaders and parents may accompany the Scout. (LB)

Bird Study Merit Badge Workshop Earn a Bird Study Merit Badge in this class, taught by a Nature Center staff member who is a certified Merit Badge Counselor. Observe live birds, learn to identify birds in the field and create a field notebook. If enough birds are spotted, the entire badge can be completed in one day. If the required number of birds is not seen, a follow-up date has been scheduled. Participants should bring a blue Merit Badge card signed by Scoutmaster, a zerowaste lunch, bird field guide (preferably “National Geographic Society Field Guide to the Birds of North America,” second edition or higher) and one clean and empty two quart milk or juice cartons. Laura Ingalls Wilder

Scout Program Pretend to live in the 1800s just like Laura Ingalls Wilder. Girls will have the opportunity to complete the requirements for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Scout badge. This program teaches girls about candle dipping, making cornbread, sewing, blacksmithing, weaving and more. The patch will be available for purchase in the Gift Shop.
