PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Our chamber and board of directors would like to take a few seconds to reflect on some of the things we have been participated in this year. The Blooming Festival of 2019 brought in the largest crowd Nashville had seen at a festival over the past years. Thank you to our membership Volunteers. We have served our members with Seminars for Small Business with Nash Community College, the children of Nash County met with Santa Claus and they “were the Christmas Parade’” Our distinguished citizen this year was one of our own directors on our Board of Directors. He has been so involved with community and with the Chamber. We all enjoyed the fellowship with members with our Fall Member Social and we were able to award three educational scholarships to graduating seniors in Nash County. We are in the process for next year to add the Miss Nashville Pageant and the Teen Miss Nashville Pageant. Our goals are to improve our community and business relationships which I feel are improving every year, thanks to our members. I think the rest of 2020 will be a challenging time for a lot of our members due to the COVID-19 virus mandate to stay at home. Businesses will be struggling to make back their losses but as your Chamber we are always there to help and to support our members. We can look at this as a coming together- each member business helping each other. We have, and hope you will, continue to encourage everyone to shop local. Not to shop local on the Saturday set aside in November but every day, all year long. We will support our members in all ways we can to keep our local businesses and chamber thriving. Supporting each other’s businesses will help all of us and our Nash County citizens. We have had a GREAT Board of Directors for the last few years and I cannot say how thankful I have been for the hard work and support they have contributed to our chamber, membership and myself. We are all volunteers and volunteer work is sometimes not recognized. Thank You to each one of you for your involvement and hard work. The relentless hours that are put in to make this Chamber what it is really shows how much you care about our membership. If you are not a member of our Nashville Chamber of Commerce let me ask you WHY? Why would you not join us in supporting your business the way we support our members, to have better recognition for your business and to help support each other in times like this year. We would love to have more member with more participation. Membership is very inexpensive. Just remember, we are in this for YOU.

NASHVILLE Nashville is known for its small town charm, friendly people and is a “Great Place to Live, Work and Play.” Founded in 1780, the Town of Nashville is located in eastern North Carolina along US64 (Future I-495) only 5 minutes from I-95. It is centrally located along the east coast approximately half-way between New York City and Miami. The town has a population of 5,500 and is the County Seat for Nash County. It maintains many of the charms of southern towns with tree lined streets and older historic homes. Just over a 30 minute commute to Raleigh, NC, the town is a central location for business and pleasure. Its convenient location near the intersection of US64 (Future I-495) and I-95 allows for easy travel along multilane modern highways to nearly any part of the US. RDU International Airport is only a one hour drive. Further, it’s only a short two hour drive to points along the sandy North Carolina beaches and approximately four hours to the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains. Washington, DC, is only four hours up Interstate Highway I-95.

VICE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Nashville is a great place to live, work and raise a family. We’re a growing and vibrant community that so many love to call home and a great many wish they could call home. The Nashville Chamber of Commerce cannot take credit for all that. We can take some though. The Chamber’s goal is to promote the general business environment and commercial development in the area. In addition we work to improve all aspects of the quality of life for all Nashville’s citizens. The Chamber encourages and promotes business growth and development through workshops in conjunction with Nash Community College and with ribbon cuttings and Business After Hours. Nashville has seen the opening of several
new businesses recently and we will see more in the near future. Since 1991 the Nashville Chamber has recognized a distinguished citizen and has recently started honoring a youth age 12-18 for their civic involvement and contributions. We focus on the young with our sponsorship of the Annual Children’s Christmas Parade where the children are the parade. Assisting with higher education costs is the reason behind the scholarships we award each year to graduating high school seniors to help with their college costs. Of course we sponsor the wonderful Nashville Blooming Festival each Mother’s Day weekend. Proceeds from that event allow us to make contributions to several worthwhile organizations, but there is also a sense of
Caring for our community, one patient at a time. Locations in Rocky Mount, Nashville and Spring Hope www.boice-willis.com
Cliff Joyner Chamber Vice-President pride when people from outside the community speak of how great an event the entire weekend is for all. Your chamber also is constantly looking for other ways to support our town and citizens. The spring of 2021 will feature a Miss Nashville Pageant, and, as there will be upcoming elections we will continue to provide our candidate forums to help keep voters informed. This is an impressive list but could be so much more impressive with more volunteer help. The Blooming Festival can always use volunteers and sponsors, and there are so many other joint projects with the local schools and other organizations we could encourage…so many ways we can make Nashville an even better place to live and work. Won’t you consider being a part?

TOWN OF NASHVILLE
Small town charm at its best!
Nashville, NC is one of 12 Nashvilles in the United States and is the oldest. The town continues to be regarded as “A Great Place to Live, Work and Play.” Nashville’s growth rate has made it the fastest growing full service municipality in Nash County, according to the 2010 US Census. This trend is expected to continue as Nashville continues to serve as the geographical and institutional center of Nash County. However, Nashville has kept its small town charm while continuing to grow. A Downtown Redevelopment Phase I project was completed for the Washington Street area of the Downtown area which is part of a revitalization project for all of Downtown that will include improvements such as streetscape work on sidewalks, lighting, underground utilities, and building facades. This is just one of many community development projects designed to ensure focus on both issues of depth along with growth to make sure Nashville remains “A Great Place to Live, Work, and Play.” But the main key has always been the citizens of Nashville. As the county seat, the town is also host to the county administrative building, courthouse, health department, social services, emergency services, Sheriff’s Department, Senior Center, Nash Arts, and Nash-Rocky Mount School System Administrative Offices (along with Nashville Elementary, Nash Central Middle School, Nash Central High School and Northern Nash High School being located either in town or close by.)
Pictured above is the new addition to the Nash County Courthouse, which was completed in 2018. Nashville is home to multiple historic structures along with modern facilities and activities for adults and youth. Residential areas include a unique blend of historical homes and new construction. Citizens have access to a variety of businesses and services along with parks, recreation and many community organizations which contribute to the quality of life.
