South Coastal’s Summer Book Sale

The Summer Book Sale is an annual part of everyone’s visit to Bethany during the middle of August. Don’t miss it! The August Book Sale includes a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction in hardcover and paperback, DVDs, and CDs for adults, children, and teens in nearly new condition. All of our materials are $2 or less. This year’s Summer Book Sale will take place on the following days: Thursday August 15th from 10 A.M. – 8 P.M. Friday August 16th from 1 P.M. – 5 P.M. Saturday August 17t from 9 A.M. – 3 P.M. All of the proceeds support South Coastal Library and its services to the community. So stop in during your time at the shore for the deal of the summer.

The Friends of South Coastal Library are gearing up for the highly anticipated Summer Book Sale August 15th, 16th, and 17th. Come and find your beach reading at unbeatable prices!

We rely on your donations of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, and Audio Books to make our sale a success. The library is continually accepting donations. However, we cannot accept textbooks or encyclopedias. We ask, with exception of classic titles, that materials be published within the last ten years.

Oh, the things we have SEEN and DONE at the library! From Alpacas to Cajun cooking demos, to Inside the Mind of a Terrorist, South Coastal Library has it all. The library’s knitting group Chix With Stix took a field trip to an Alpaca Farm in Milton and met some very interesting characters. Our iPad class was very popular; people brought their iPads and shared tips and hints with each other. Due to popular demand more classes are scheduled. The children’s room is a busy place and the Sussex County Master Gardeners and members of the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension program put on the play Peter Rabbit to explain the importance of veggies. The 80+ children who attended the program had a ball.

Ninety people came for Charlie Oppman’s Cajun Cooking Demo and all enjoyed his Jambalaya. Charles hopes to return in the Fall with more tasty recipes.

If you ever wondered what the stuffed toys in the Children’s Room do after the Library closes, check out the picture. Now you know.

Dr. Bard O’Neill, author and professor, presented “Inside the Mind of a Terrorist” for 50 attendees to the program.

Custom created DVD shelves were installed in the Children’s Room in memory of Megan Lavin, whose family vacations here. The units are beautiful and match the Cedar wall behind them; they provide easy browsing access for children and parents. Megan’s parents plan to bring their young grandsons here this summer to show what family and friends did in their mom’s honor.
