Conservation Work Party Join our thriving Conservation Work Party Team to help plant up the island in the pond. We will be planting native aquatic plants to turn the island into a haven for wildlife. Hot drinks and cake provided! For health and safety purposes, participants must be confident around water and able to swim. Training and all PPE, including waders provided. Over 16s only. A Short Course in Felting: Make a Haberdashery Pouch or Botanical Book Cover Pippa Cant will guide you through the techniques of wet-felting and embroidery stitch helping you to create a unique and beautiful book cover or haberdashery pouch. Choose between creating a unique and hard-wearing decorative book cover or embellishing your own haberdashery pouch, either to keep sharp tools such as knitting, crochet or sewing needles in safely or to store embellishments such as buttons, hair pins or jewellery items. This course is suitable for all skills levels. All materials will be provided but please bring your own pair of scissors and an old towel. You may wish to bring a packed lunch.

A Short Course in Relief Printing using Lino and wood Relief printing using woodcuts from fruit-tree wood was the main form of print making in the C17th. Print artist Tommy Butt will guide you through the process of designing and creating your own unique prints using wood and lino, helping you draw inspiration from the present and the past to develop both your style and technical ability as a print-maker. Mystery Messages Messages in the past were sometimes written in code to prevent them from being read by unwanted eyes along the way. Follow a trail around Forty Hall to decipher a mystery message. Experiment with recipes to mix up inks in different colours using natural materials. Then make a quill pen and use it to write your own secret messages. Suitable for ages 4 – 11. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Join in some arty madness this Easter by creating your own wonderland in a tea cup and playing bonkers games that only Alice could imagine…with characters that hopped straight out of the book.
