“Happy ThanksGolfing Classic to Aid Homeless Families in Fort Bend

Fort Bend Family Promise (FBFP) hosts the 9th Annual “ThanksGolfing Classic to be held Monday, November 25th at Sweetwater Country Club. Tournament planners include FBFP Executive Director Vera Johnson and Board Members Caron Marble, Elizabeth Butler, Ed Brasher, Karen Jennings, Michael Brown and Robbin Mallett.

Fort Bend Family Promise invites area businesses and golfers and to take part in its ninth annual charity golf tournament and help homeless Fort Bend families get back into homes during the upcoming holiday season. The “Happy ThanksGolfing Classic has a new home this year – Sweetwater Country Club – and will be held on November 25th, the Monday before Thanksgiving. “We are excited to offer golfers the chance to play at Sweetwater while helping homeless Fort Bend families get back to self-sufficiency. Thanksgiving is a great time to count your blessings and give back to your community, said Tournament Coordinator Elizabeth Butler. Local businesses and individuals are invited to support the event by becoming tournament sponsors. Sponsorships, ranging from Platinum at $10,000 to Hole Sponsor at $400, are available. In-kind sponsorships are also welcome. Golf registration is $150 per person, and the scramble format-shotgun start for the four-player teams begins at 12:15 p.m. Dinner and awards follow the conclusion of play. This year, since many local students are on holiday for the entire week of Thanksgiving, a discounted $100 student registration is also being offered with at least one paid adult registration. Fort Bend Family Promise is the county’s only non-profit agency committed to helping homeless families with children get back to self sufficiency. Their mission is to meet the immediate needs of homeless families while empowering them to attain self-sufficiency. The organization pursues this mission by uniting faith communities in a cooperative effort to provide shelter, meals and comprehensive support.
