FAIR OAKS RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S MEETINGS Next Meeting: 2/17/2021 The Park Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:00pm in Village Hall, 7997 California Avenue. You are always welcome to attend in person or via zoom (currently all meetings are being held via zoom). For an up-to-date schedule and agenda, please visit forpd.org. Measure J Projects continue on at pace! Jim Streng Park’s construction documents have been completed and have gone to bid. The District will be considering all bids submitted before picking the appropriate bidder. Construction will commence soon after the bidding process is complete. Some additional Measure J funding was supplied to the Fair Oaks Bike Park to install an irrigation system and a rolling gate to close the area for maintenance. Final bids are back on the gate fabrication and installation, and construction will commence at the beginning of February... BASIC HORSEMANSHIP Ages: 8-15 Fee: $163 Location: Shadow Glen Riding Stables This is a four-week introductory class that teaches the history, major breeds, horse care, grooming, saddling, handling and how to care for horses. The Western life-style and ranch setting are emphasized. THIS IS NOT A RIDING PROGRAM. Children will receive approximately 10-15 minutes of riding time during classes 2-4. FITNESS & WELLNESS ZUMBA FITNESS FOR ALL AGES Ages: 12+ (recommended) Fee: $20 (sessions 1-2) $30 (session 3) Location: Village Park Bandshell Zumba is an exercise class that combines dance and fitness. It is inspired by Latin music and uses Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, and Reggaeton moves. The music is fast, slow, and designed to give you aerobic benefits, anaerobic (toning), and helps you de-stress by providing a fun party-like feel. That’s why it’s also called Exercise in Disguise. Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District helps make the benefits of recreation programs available to children (18 & younger) and seniors (62 & older) from low-income families. This program is available on a case-by-case basis. Eligible participants will receive up to an 80% discount on one District program/class upon the approved completion of an application and all appropriate criteria. RACHEL ANNE GRAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Rachel Anne Gray scholarship was established in honor of Rachel Anne Gray who passed away September 2, 2012 at the age of 21. Rachel was a member of the Fair Oaks Youth Advisory Board, graduated from Bella Vista, received her degree from CSU, Sacramento, and was a valued member of the Fair Oaks Community. Three awards, in the amounts of $1,500, $1,000, and $500 are awarded annually to deserving high school seniors.

Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District Playgrounds are now open. Please follow these simple steps provided by California Department of Public Health to help keep our outdoor playgrounds safe, open, and fun.
WEAR A MASK Everyone 2 years and older should wear a mask covering on their face. MAINTAIN DISTANCE Maintain Physical distance of 6 feet between individuals from different households and prevent crowding of children. NO FOOD OR DRINK Do not eat or drink in playground to ensure face masks are worn at all times. WASH HANDS Wash or sanitize your hands before and after your visit. PLAN AHEAD Visit the park at different times or days to avoid crowds and waits. KNOW WHEN TO STAY HOME Elderly individuals and people with underlining medical conditions should avoid playgrounds when others are present. Metro Fire’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is an all risk, all-hazard training. This training is free to citizens who work or live in Sacramento County. FIVE WAYS TO REGISTER Don’t risk a class or league getting canceled due to low enrollment. Register today! 1. Online Registration: Visit forpd.org to register online with Visa, MC or American Express. 2. Walk-In Registration: Fill out registration form at the District Office, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm. Cash, Check or Credit cards accepted. Checks should be made out to: FORPD 3. Mail-In Registration: Accepted with a complete registration form and correct fees. Please do not mail cash. Mail registration to FORPD District Office 4. Drop-Box Registration: Accepted with a complete registration form and correct fees. Please do not drop cash. Drop-Box is located at District office to left of front door for after hours drop-off. 5. Phone-In Registration: Register over the phone for select events/programs/class. Must be in our system as a previous customer. FaxIn registration form with credit card # to 916966-9863. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. The District reserves the right to cancel or modify any class and/or program. Classes may be canceled three (3) days prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. 2. Resident/Non Resident: Residents are those who live within the Fair Oaks area. All others pay the non-resident fee (indicated by non res). 3. If paying at class, you may only pay with check made out to FORPD or with credit card. EMERGENCY REPORTING IN YOUR PARK, DIAL 9-1-1 For non-emergencies regarding park security vandalism suspicious persons, or suspicious activities in your parks, call the District office at 916-966-1036 Monday through Friday during business hours. After business hours or on weekends, call 916-240-3651. If you need immediate law enforcement assistance or to report illegal activity, please call the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115.
REFUND POLICY 1. Full refund will be given if the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District cancels the program or for medical reasons. 2. Online convenience fee is non-refundable. 3. No refund will be issued after the class or program has had its second meeting. 4. All refund requests will be approved or denied by the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District. All refund checks will be processed through the County of Sacramento and mailed to you within 4-6 weeks. 5. The Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District reserves the right to adjust the refund policy, depending upon the circumstances and the severity of the situation. All refunds are required to submit a refund/transfer request form to be approved by District Staff. 6. Policy does not apply to events and vendors. Email events@forpd.org for clarification.
