Forgan Future Fest & AGM

KIDS HOLIDAY CLUBS BACK! FORGAN KIDS ART & CERAMICS CLUB Our ever popular ‘Forgan Kids Art Club’ will be running during the Fife Easter holidays, offering an exciting club full of arts and crafts for primary aged children. Jam-packed with creative fun for those looking to be inspired and for little hands to be kept busy! With our experienced Play leaders and artists, the children can engage in a variety of activities and mini workshops such as pottery, printing, building, painting and more! With the success of Ceramics during the last clubs, where possible we will have a pottery session each day. The children will get to experiment with different techniques of stamping shapes, playing with textures, hand building pots and model making. At points there will be a chance to have a shot on the pottery wheel to throw small pots to decorate and fire. This is a unique opportunity for the children to work with ceramics and immerse themselves in arts and crafts over the holiday. Where the weather allows, we may take some activities outdoors. We would also hope to take walks to forage for foliage to use in our crafts, allowing the children to explore new textures and techniques.

Over the next few weeks information about the progress, opportunities and challenges the staff and committee are managing and discussing will be displayed and available at the centre, on the website and emailed to everyone who has an interest in the future of the Forgan Arts Centre. To present and discuss the findings from this year’s consultations the Forgan Future Fest will take place immediately prior to the AGM. See website for further details and updates! BACK! STAR BUNTING CROCHET: with Maïté Allwood

NEW! LAMPSHADE MAKING: WORKSHOP

WORKSHOP

Learn to make a lampshade using your chosen fabric!

Learn the traditional skills of crochet using a natural vegetable fibre with a Scottish heritage.

After knitting for 30years, Maïté taught herself to crochet and went on to develop this into a small business, ‘Knotty but nice’. Based in Angus and living beside one of the last twine producers in the UK, she now uses twine as her main yarn. Maïté will introduce basic crochet techniques such as the magic loop, double crochet, half treble and single chain. Participants will create a bunting made of stars in the colour of their choice using Nutscene twine. Perfect for your Christmas tree, your mantle or door frame... all year round! Come and refresh your skills or...start from scratch! You will leave with a pattern for your make so you can practice more at home. You will have the opportunity to purchase more twine and a crochet hook to make more at home. Tea and coffee available at the Centre, but please bring a packed lunch! SATURDAY 16 MAY I 10AM - 2PM ADULTS £18 I MEMBERS £15 I YOUTHS 15+ £10

In this relaxing and chatty workshop, we will be creating a round 30cm lampshade ready to take home. The lampshade can be used as a pendant shade or for a standing lamp. Please bring your own fabric if you have some or pick from our off cuts. If bringing your own fabric, it will need to be 26cm x 97cm long. TIP: The thicker the fabric is, the more difficult it is to create a neat finish! A strong & soft cotton works best. It’s really satisfying to turn an old piece of fabric into something new, this workshop will light up your day! Price includes lampshade making equipment & materials. Tea and coffee available at the Centre! SATURDAY 23 MAY I 2.30PM - 4.30PM ADULTS £30 I MEMBERS £25 I YOUTHS 12+ £20

NEW! FELTING WORKSHOP

NEW! MAKE A CYANOTYPE TEA LIGHT LANTERN: Forgan Fundraiser with Kit Martin WORKSHOP Using the cyanotype printing process, you will design your image then print on pre-treated cotton outside in the sun. After some intense drying of the fabric, you will be guided through the process of turning this unique printed fabric into a tea light lantern measuring 10cm diameter x12cm tall. All materials provided including some feathers and dried plants but feel free to bring some to use if you like.

8

We will start the day learning the techniques of wet and needle felting using beautiful merino wool and mulberry silk as well as looking at the effects you can achieve by adding wool nepps and angelina fibers. The majority of the day will be spent creating a picture made of wool felt which you will take home, approximately 40x40cm - great for a cushion cover or in a frame, plus a 15x15cm test piece. You may like to bring along some images to work from or alternatively, you could work step by step through a set design. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those who have felted before. Felt needles can be taken home, plus instructions on how to add your needle felting to your wet felt picture if you would like to advance at home.
