HOW TO CREATE A VISION BOARD | THE SHORT GUIDE

What is a Vision board? A vision board is a powerful visualization tool and fun arts & crafts project. Super fun for just about anyone! A vision boards is a collection of the visual images or photo collage and words of inspiration that best represent ideal lifestyle. Some people create a walking board (a smaller one they can carry around with them in their purse/wallets) and some people create larger board to be hung up on the wall for display.

What’s the purpose of creating one? The purpose of the vision board is to serve as a daily visual reminder of modifications we can or need to make in our lives in order to bring forth our dreams, goals & aspirations in order to live the lives we were created to love. The boards serve as a constant reminder of your goals and aspirations of your spiritual, professional or personal desires.

Time You’re going to need some time to create this board. You can do this activity alone or get a group of your girls together alongside a glass of red or white wine and make a party out of it!

Set the Tone Where are you most creative? Go there and set aside hour or two with limited or no interruption to create your work of art. Put some head-phones on if you’re alone or plug up your iPod and listen to your favorite track.

Be Intentional What’s the point of creating your vision board? Where do you see yourself over the next 60 days? What words inspire you? Grab your magazine and start cutting out photos & words that symbolizes the life you want to live. Take for example, if you want to become a successful talk show host, you may want to grab an Oprah magazine and cut out pictures of her all over your board or if you want to own your dream home, find a picture of what that may look like and place it on your board.

Get Creative Use your markers or paint to write your personal motto or favorite quotes on your vision board. You can also just cut out words or phrases from the magazines to post onto your board that reminds you of words you’re inspired by.

Find the Perfect Spot You’ll need to hang this vision board in a space where you can look at it at least once per day. If you’re anything like me, you can buy a super nice frame and hang it on your wall in your home or office for a constant reminder. Here’s a snippet of my walking vison board. I keep it in the back of my “Damn Good Ideas” journal for inspiration on a daily basis.
