A M E S S AG E F R O M S TAG E A N D A R T I S T I C D I R E C TO R - B I L L T H E I S E N Welcome to the world of Pump Boys and Dinettes. This wonderfully entertaining show, a hybrid of musical theatre and concert, has been described as follows: “A tribute to life by the roadside that takes place on Highway 57, somewhere in America’s heartland between Frog Level and Smyrna North Carolina. In this unique and charming location stands a rest stop for those who truly need a rest. The four hard-working fellas at the gas station have been known to do some auto repairs, but only when aided by ample quantities of time, great tunes and a few beers while they’re at it. Just a few feet away lies a roadside eatery, the Double Cupp Diner, where the Cupp sisters celebrate their famous home cooking and gift for song with the same zeal they bring to their kinship with the boys.” As many of you know the mission statement of Skylight Music Theatre is to present the full spectrum of musical theatre and opera and Pump Boys is a style of music never before seen on the Cabot stage. A true “country” musical with incredibly catchy tunes and hilarious yet human characters, Pump Boys is also groundbreaking for us because the cast provides the entire accompaniment for the show! This phenomenon has become quite popular in the last few years and we are thrilled to present this magnificently talented cast to our Skylight audiences. On a personal note, what I like best about Pump Boys and Dinettes is that this one-of-a kind show is a triumph of ensemble playing. It doesn’t merely celebrate the value of friendship and life’s simple pleasures…..it embodies them.

A M E S S AG E F R O M T H E M A N AG I N G D I R E C TO R - A M Y S . J E N S E N Welcome to Skylight Music Theatre and our production of Pump Boys and Dinettes. We would like to thank the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) for their support not only of this production, but also the entire 2012-13 season. Every year, UPAF is our largest donor providing critical unrestricted operating support. There would not be a Skylight or, in fact, the vibrant performing arts we enjoy here in Milwaukee without the support of UPAF. Skylight is very proud to have been a member organization since UPAF’s inception in 1967. By giving to UPAF you help ensure the variety of high quality performing arts that we are so fortunate to be able to enjoy in our community. In addition, many of the groups UPAF supports bring creative and innovative arts education into schools that no longer have dedicated visual and performing arts educators. UPAF funding enables Skylight to continue providing our Enlighten programs free of charge to our MPS Partner Schools. Please join us in supporting the 2013 UPAF campaign! We hope you continue to be a part of what has been a truly spectacular 2012-13 season by joining us for our two remaining productions: Sing Me a Story featuring Kay Stiefel and Jack Forbes Wilson in the Studio Theatre and The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess in the Cabot Theatre with our second production this season directed by Skylight Artistic Director Bill Theisen. Stay tuned for more news of our ground-breaking upcoming season with incoming Artistic Director Viswa Subbaraman. We look forward to you getting to know him as we reveal our 201314 season on March 14 and kick off yet another thrilling season of music theatre!
